JOB SUMMARY: The Business Development Manager will be responsible for pursuing target market sectors, developing relationships with new and some existing clients, and assisting with capture strategies for various pursuits in our industrial group. The Business Development Manager will lead our strategic partnership efforts by connecting with organizations that share our values and long-term vision. The Business Development role will focus on understanding each partner's unique goals and challenges, and work to build strong, collaborative relationships that create meaningful, win-win outcomes.
The Business Development Manager will work with the Vice President(s), Project Development, Project Directors and Managers, and other team members to research, identify, analyze, develop, and most importantly, execute new business initiatives and partnerships to meet established goals.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Work with the Vice President Strategic Partnerships, Project Development, Project Directors and Managers, and other team members to research, identify, analyze, develop, and most importantly, execute new business initiatives and partnerships to meet established goals.
  • Collaborate with industry leaders across market sectors to develop and implement capture strategies with a focus on growth within the Midwest region.
  • Monitor and evaluate industry trends, marketplace conditions, and customer needs to be incorporated into the corporate strategy.
  • Use Salesforce to create and implement a CRM registry to accurately report and track all business development activities and communicate these activities and corresponding objectives with management and lead project staff. Plan will include an annual budget for business development activities completed in conjunction with Vice President - Project Development annual business plan.
  • Support Industrial Group's efforts to meet revenue goals across key market sectors and services.
  • Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking events, professional meetings, and presentations that represent the company.
  • Comply with Company's Quality Control and Project Management procedures.
  • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Strategic Business Development Leadership
    • Lead creation, documentation, training and execution of the business development strategy in alignment with corporate growth objectives.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize market sectors, client types, regions, and project sizes for growth.
    • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities and results to inform proactive positioning and firm strategy.
    • Champion a culture of integrity, leadership, and client-focused delivery across all business development efforts.
  • Client and Market Development
    • Build and sustain high-level relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry.
    • Engineer-Procure-Construct and Design-Build partners.
    • Identify unmet client needs and position VESTAL as a strategic solutions provider.
    • Gather and analyze intelligence on client capital improvement plans and long-range needs.
    • Maintain and prioritize a strategic client list based on potential value and alignment with firm capabilities.
    • Represent VESTAL at industry events, conferences, and key client meetings.
  • Internal Collaboration and Team Development
    • Participate actively in VESTAL's Leadership Team to align business development with firm operations.
    • Mentor and develop internal business development talent and project leaders in relationship-building skills.
    • Identify and recommend resource needs (personnel and skills) to support pursuit efforts.
  • Marketing & Communications Collaboration
    • Collaborate with Marketing Coordinator to discuss branding to elevate VESTAL's visibility:
      1. LinkedIn and other social media
      2. Website content
      3. Proposal and presentation templates
      4. Promotional materials
      5. Swag
      6. Exposition and conference displays
      7. Support the creation of compelling, brand-consistent materials for client outreach, expositions, and pursuits.
  • Systems, Tools & Metrics
    • Collaborate with VP Strategic Partnerships and the IT Team to manage the firm's CRM (Salesforce).
    • Maintain the go/no-go evaluation process to focus pursuit efforts on high probability and potential opportunities.
    • Collect feedback from clients to monitor VESTAL's performance, satisfaction, and reputation.
    • Drive revenue growth through innovation in tools, processes, and client engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in the Vestal Office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and being able to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to move about the office to access office equipment and other office buildings within the Vestal office complex.
  • This position frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Architecture, Business, Marketing, or a relevant field of study within the Architecture & Engineering industry.
  • Proven experience in design and/or construction of industrial & manufacturing projects.
  • A minimum of 8 years' experience and proven history of success with business development in the Architectural and Engineering industry with a strong emphasis in the local Industrial Market.
  • Ability to strategically engage and connect with potential clients and professional organizations both virtually and face-to-face.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for developing strong relationships, written and verbal communication, sound decision making, people skills, and supportive collaboration.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to meet position requirements and established goals. neighboring states. It may also occasionally include states (outside the Midwest) where Vestal Corporation has an established office.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
