Job description

Tri-CAP is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic and dependable individual to join our team as a Relief Bus Driver for our transportation services in Elk River, Sauk Centre, Waite Park, and Little Falls! If you are passionate about serving your community and supporting others, we want to meet you.

About the Role

As a Bus Driver, you will provide courteous, curb-to-curb service to clients across Tri-CAP's service area and assist individuals in maintaining independence by providing a reliable public transportation option. This role requires a balance of customer service, safety-first mindset, and passion for connecting with people.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking someone who is:

  • People Person – comfortable connecting with others, and building and maintaining positive relationships with both regular and first-time riders.
  • Adaptable & Change-Ready– comfortable with shifting priorities due to customer needs, weather, etc.
  • A Strong Problem Solver– ready to find creative solutions in a fast-changing environment, while maintaining consistent, clear communication with our dispatch team.
  • Safety Oriented – focused on providing a safe transportation experience.
  • Detail Oriented – able to identify and anticipate potential conflicts or issues, and react accordingly (for example, clearly explaining required vehicle maintenance).
  • Experienced (Preferred)– experience in bus transportation is a plus!

What You'll Do

  • Safely operate bus along assigned route and schedule
  • Assist passengers as needed with mobility aids (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.)
  • Maintaining safe transportation standards (ensuring passengers are secured properly, observing appropriate driving conduct respective of weather and other environmental factors, etc.)
  • Conduct daily and weekly vehicle inspections, reporting any defects to Lead Driver
  • Monitor fare collection from passengers
  • Complete paperwork related to bus operation and passenger concerns
  • Daily cleaning and bus maintenance
