Job description

Founded in 1986, St. Charles Community College (SCC) has a reputation as one of the best two-year colleges in the state of Missouri. SCC's service area includes a six-county region with a population exceeding 540,000. SCC's main campus, located in Cottleville, has won architectural awards for its innovative, contemporary design. The college's Dardenne Creek Campus features the Center for Healthy Living and the Field to Table Institute. Opening Fall 2025, the Innovation West Campus located in Wentzville features the Regional Workforce Innovation Center. With a focus on innovation, St. Charles Community College is a leader in delivering high quality education in a state-of-the-art learning environment. SCC invites qualified candidates to apply for our part-time faculty Philosophy position to teach Introduction to Philosophy and/or Ethics online this upcoming Summer 2026 term, and possibly future semesters. Course assignments may be in-person and/or online. Preference given to instructors who have experience teaching fully online courses using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Part-time appointments made on a semester-by-semester (as needed) basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master's degree and/or 18 hours in Philosophy or a related field, and prior teaching experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD in Philosophy
  • Prior experience with asynchronous online teaching.
  • Expertise using a Learning Management System such as Canvas and using technology to enhance student learning
