Cans Assessment Jobs in Indiana (NOW HIRING)

United Methodist Youth Home (UMYH) is seeking full-time therapists to join our clinical team! The Therapist for the Residential Treatment Program is supervised by the Clinical Supervisor and works closely with the residential program team.

The Therapist shall:

1.  Be familiar with all UMYH policies and procedures for the Residential Treatment Program.

2.  Help to ensure that we are providing the best treatment for the youth that we serve by:

a)  Completing the following assessments within 1 business day of a resident’s placement:

           i.   Childhood Trust Events Survey

           ii.  Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire

b)  Completing the Social Assessment within 5 business days of a resident’s placement.

c)  Completing the CANS Assessment within 5 business days of a resident’s placement.

          i.  Completing the CANS Assessment every 6 months during placement.

          ii.  Completing the CANS Assessment within 1 week of a resident’s discharge from the program.

d)     Completing the Initial Treatment Plan within 7 days of a resident’s placement, including resident’s history, presenting problems, treatment goals and objectives, interventions and diagnoses.

          i.   The Therapist is responsible for ensuring that the Initial Treatment Plan is sent to the placing agency within 7 days of placement.

e)  Completing the Monthly Treatment Plan Reviews for each resident, including progress towards treatment goals, current diagnoses, and interventions.

          i.  The Therapist is responsible for ensuring that the Monthly Treatment Plan Reviews are sent to the placing agency by the 5th of the month, in regards to the previous month’s progress.

f)   Completing a Revised Treatment Plan for each resident, including updating treatment goals and objectives, interventions, and diagnoses every 90 days.

g)  Ensuring all aspects of the Treatment Plans are accurate, complete with all signatures, and submitted to the placing agency in a timely manner.

h)  Conducting and documenting individual therapy with each youth a minimum of once per week and more frequently as needed. 

         i.  Work with youth on developing:

• Healthy, effective coping skills
• Conflict resolution skills
• Anger management skills
• Symptom management (PTSD, ODD, Anxiety, Depression, AD/HD, etc.
• Psychoeducation
• Impulse control skills
• Improved self-esteem and self-worth
• Improved compliance with authority figures

i)   Conducting and documenting group therapy with each program a minimum of once per week and more frequently as needed. 

j)   Conducting and documenting family therapy when the permanency plan is reunification. 

k)   Documenting all individual, group, and family sessions on the Gmail Calendar and the program’s daily schedule. 

3.   The Therapist will provide a minimum of 15 billable hours per week.

4.   The Therapist will maintain therapy records for all individual, group, and family therapy sessions.

5.   The Therapist will maintain a cumulative record of all Medicaid prior authorizations.

a)   It is the Therapist’s responsibility to apply to Medicaid for a prior authorization for additional therapy sessions at least 2 weeks prior to using all authorized sessions. 

6.   The Therapist will attend a weekly supervision meeting with the Clinical Director for a minimum of 1 hour per week (1 hour for every 20-therapy hours). 

a)   In these meetings, the Therapist and Clinical Director will:

                i.    Review each youth who is receiving services

                ii.   Discuss the progress and effectiveness of therapy

               iii.   Review the clinical staffing from the weekly Treatment Team meeting

b)   The supervision meetings will be documented and signed by the Clinical Director and Therapist.  A copy given to the Executive Director by the end of the day. 

7.   The Therapist will attend all weekly meetings and monthly trainings.

8.   The Therapist will conduct a group activity for the residents and their families for the monthly Family Nights.

9.    The Therapist will assist in providing training to staff, on topics such as: Trauma-Focused CBT; Trauma-Informed Care; Explanation of Diagnoses, Symptoms, and Interventions; Suicide Prevention; Identification of Child Abuse and Neglect; LGBTQ, etc.

10.  The Therapist is responsible for carrying the after office hours cell phone, in case of therapeutic crises. There are times in which the Therapist is expected to come to campus:

a)  To help in handling crisis situations

b)  Assessing a youth who may possibly be a danger to themselves or others and taking them to either Deaconess Cross Pointe or Deaconess Gateway for an assessment. 

11.  Other duties as assigned. 

Working Conditions:

1. Sessions in the offices and group homes with varying temperatures.
2. Includes travel by automobile throughout Indiana.
3. Exposure to infectious diseases.
4. Significant interaction with troubled youth, disoriented or agitated residents, and/or family members who need to be calmed.
5. On-call rotation for therapeutic crises ($150 On-Call Bonus)

Job Standards:

1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
2. Master’s Degree in Social Work. LSW required, LCSW preferred. Minimum of 1-year post-graduate experience.
3. If not TF-CBT certified, the Therapist will begin the process of getting their certification within 90 days of employment. If the Therapist does not complete the TF-CBT certification within 1 year of starting the certification process, the employee will owe UMYH all costs associated with the TF-CBT training. As this training is a requirement, if the Therapist has not received their full certification within 15 months of employment, UMYH reserves the right to terminate employment.
4. Pass a criminal background check, including sex offender, criminal, DCS registry, and fingerprints.
5. Valid driver’s license.
6. Pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and TB test.

Critical Skills/Expertise

1. Capable of working independently and as a team member.
2. Maintain a non-discrimination policy in all areas of practice regardless of race, color, age, religion, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, physical handicap, political belief, or veteran status.
3. Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks so that all deadlines are met.
4. Ability to juggle a caseload of up to 15 residents simultaneously, prioritizing, and delegating appropriately based on caseload, administrative duties, and residents’ needs.
5. Adequate walking, sitting, and standing skills.
6. Reading and reasoning skills necessary to understand information in residents’ records as required to review and participate in the client(s) treatment plans.
7. Ability to appropriately clinically assess and diagnose residents.
8. Reading, writing, and clinical skills necessary to write treatment plans, progress reports, etc. and ability to understand intake information.
9. Communication skills necessary to work with various populations including at-risk youth, parents, and other professionals.
10. Ability to handle frustration, frequent change of plans, prioritization of assignments, and coordination with other employees.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
