Job description

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIANYou Know How to Wrench. Now Level Up.

Saco, Maine
$22–$28/hour, based on experience
Full-Time | Mid-Level Technician
ASE Master Technician Growth Path

YOU’RE PAST ENTRY LEVEL. SO IS THIS JOB.

You’ve put in the time.

You know your way around a toolbox. You can handle most repairs without someone looking over your shoulder. You know the difference between replacing a part and actually diagnosing the problem.

Now you’re ready for a shop where you can keep getting better.

Ray’s Truck Service is hiring a mid-level Automotive Technician for our Saco, ME shop — someone with a few solid years under their belt who takes pride in finding the problem, fixing it right, and sending it out the door right the first time.

We’re part of the NETC Fleet Services family, one of New England’s fastest-growing names in towing, recovery, fleet, and commercial vehicle service.

That means:

Steady, year-round work
⚙️ Modern diagnostic equipment
Support for certifications
A real path toward ASE Master Technician and beyond

We’re not looking for someone to babysit oil changes. We’re looking for a technician who wants to become a GREAT technician.
DIAGNOSE IT. FIX IT. FIX IT RIGHT.

Your job isn’t just swapping parts.

It’s figuring out why something failed and making the repair that actually solves the problem.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

Brakes — diagnosis, repair, and replacement

Steering & Suspension — components, wear, handling issues, and troubleshooting

Electrical Systems — testing, tracing, and diagnosing electrical faults

HVAC & A/C — diagnosis, service, and refrigerant work

Engine Performance — drivability issues, fault codes, and root-cause diagnostics

Preventive Maintenance — scheduled services and inspections that keep vehicles on the road

Maine State Safety Inspections — once properly licensed

WE WANT A DIAGNOSTIC MINDSET

Anybody can fire the parts cannon.

Good technicians diagnose.

You’ll use modern diagnostic equipment, scan tools, service information, and your own mechanical judgment to determine what’s actually happening.

You’ll also:

✓ Document repairs and findings clearly
✓ Maintain accurate service records
✓ Communicate with the service writer and shop team
✓ Help keep jobs moving efficiently through the shop
✓ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe bay
✓ Take ownership of the quality of your work

Find the cause. Make the repair. Stand behind the work.

That’s the standard.

YOU’LL FIT HERE IF...

You’ve got enough experience to work independently on most everyday repairs — but you’re still hungry to learn more.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

2–5 years of hands-on automotive repair experience

✓ Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic/troubleshooting skills

✓ Confidence handling most common repairs independently

✓ Your own set of basic hand tools

✓ Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

✓ High school diploma or equivalent

✓ Automotive or technical-school training is a plus

✓ Strong work ethic and attention to detail

✓ A technician who wants to keep earning certifications and expanding their skills

BUILD TOWARD ASE MASTER

Already have certifications? Great.

Still working toward them? We’ll help you get there.

We’re especially interested in technicians with — or willing to earn — ASE certifications including:

A4 — Suspension & Steering
A5 — Brakes
A6 — Electrical/Electronic Systems
A8 — Engine Performance

THE GOAL: ASE MASTER TECHNICIAN

We’ll support your continued development with time and opportunities to earn the certifications that move your career forward.

You’ll also need — or be willing to obtain:

Maine State Inspection License — Class A Inspection Mechanic

❄️ EPA Section 609 Certification — for motor vehicle A/C refrigerant handling

Manufacturer-specific training?

Even better.

WHERE CAN THIS ROLE TAKE YOU?

We’re growing — and growing shops need strong technicians, leaders, and problem-solvers.

This position isn’t meant to be your finish line.

TECHNICIAN → ASE MASTER TECH → LEAD TECH → FOREMAN

The more you can diagnose, the more you can repair.

The more responsibility you can handle, the more valuable you become.

At Ray’s and NETC Fleet Services, we want skilled people who can grow with us.
