How much do cannabis representative jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 1, 2026, the average yearly pay for cannabis representative in the United States is $44,219.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $37,500.00 and $43,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How easy is it to get hired at a dispensary?

Getting hired as a cannabis representative at a dispensary typically requires relevant knowledge of cannabis products, good communication skills, and sometimes prior experience in sales or customer service. Dispensaries often look for candidates with a clean background, proper licensing if required, and the ability to work flexible hours. The hiring process can vary but generally involves an interview and background check, making the ease of hiring dependent on the candidate's qualifications and the dispensary's staffing needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Cannabis Representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Cannabis Representative, you need strong sales acumen, product knowledge of cannabis strains and regulations, and often a background in retail or sales. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and compliance tracking tools is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to educate clients make someone stand out in this position. These skills ensure compliance, foster trusted relationships with clients and dispensaries, and drive sales in a highly regulated and competitive market.

What is the highest paying job in cannabis?

The highest paying jobs in the cannabis industry typically include executive roles such as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), or Director of Cultivation, which can offer six-figure salaries. These positions require extensive industry experience, leadership skills, and often involve overseeing large operations or strategic planning.

What are some common challenges a Cannabis Representative faces when working with dispensaries and how can they be addressed?

Cannabis Representatives often encounter challenges such as keeping up with evolving state regulations, managing product inventory, and building strong relationships with dispensary staff in a competitive market. To address these issues, it's important to stay current with local compliance requirements, maintain clear communication with both suppliers and clients, and provide educational support about new products. Developing strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to customer service can help representatives stand out and succeed in the role.

What are Cannabis Representatives?

Cannabis Representatives, also known as cannabis sales representatives or brand ambassadors, are professionals who promote and sell cannabis products to dispensaries, retailers, and sometimes directly to consumers. They act as the link between cannabis brands or manufacturers and the businesses that stock their products. Their responsibilities typically include educating clients about product features, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building strong relationships to boost sales. Cannabis Representatives must stay informed about industry trends, product innovations, and local laws related to cannabis sales.

What is the difference between Cannabis Representative vs Cannabis Sales Associate?

AspectCannabis RepresentativeCannabis Sales Associate
CredentialsMay require industry-specific certifications or knowledge of cannabis productsTypically no formal certifications required, focus on sales skills
Work EnvironmentField-based, visiting dispensaries, events, and clientsRetail store or dispensary setting, assisting customers
Employer & Industry UsageUsed by cannabis companies to promote products and build relationshipsCommonly used in retail cannabis stores to sell products directly to consumers

Both roles involve promoting cannabis products, but Cannabis Representatives focus on outreach and relationship-building with dispensaries and clients, often requiring industry knowledge. Cannabis Sales Associates primarily work in retail settings, assisting customers and closing sales. Understanding these differences helps job seekers identify the right role based on their skills and career goals.

How much do cannabis brand ambassadors make?

Cannabis brand ambassadors typically earn between $15 and $25 per hour, with some earning additional bonuses or commissions based on sales or event performance. Annual salaries can range from $30,000 to $60,000 depending on experience, location, and employer, often requiring knowledge of cannabis products and marketing skills.

What disqualifies you from working at a dispensary?

Cannabis Representatives may be disqualified from working at a dispensary if they have a criminal record related to drug offenses, lack proper licensing or certification, or fail background checks required by state regulations. Additionally, poor communication skills, inability to pass drug tests, or failure to meet age requirements can also disqualify candidates.

Job description

Sales Representative โ€“ Cannabis Wholesale
Location: Portland, OR (In-Person)

Are you an experienced cannabis rep ready to take your skills to the next level?
Or a high-performing sales pro from another industry, ready to finally break into cannabis?

This is your opportunity.

Vibes Wholesale is a female-owned, family-operated cannabis company with a proven track record and a respected presence in Oregonโ€™s cannabis market. Alongside our in-house brand, we proudly represent some of the stateโ€™s top flower producers and best-selling products and weโ€™re expanding.

Weโ€™re not looking for order takers!ย  Weโ€™re looking for revenue drivers. Territory builders. Relationship cultivators. People who love the challenge of a competitive market and know how to stand out.

What Youโ€™ll Get
  • Uncapped Earning Potential โ€“ Base salary plus commission. You write your own paycheck.
  • Top-Tier Product Portfolio โ€“ Youโ€™ll represent brands that dispensaries trust and consumers love.
  • Hands-On Training & Mentorship โ€“ Weโ€™ll ensure youโ€™re confident in our products, compliance, and approach.
  • Direct Access to Leadership โ€“ Collaborate with an experienced team that values your insight and input.
  • Strong Market Credibility โ€“ Join a company with an established name, loyal retail partners, and a solid reputation.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Own your territory: build strong, service-forward relationships with new and existing dispensaries.
  • Conduct regular account visits โ€” deliver samples, check inventory, and keep the brand top of mind.
  • Host vendor days and in-store pop-ups to boost sell-through and brand visibility.
  • Track your progress and document activities in our CRM to keep your pipeline sharp and communication clear.
  • Share market feedback with leadership and stay on top of trends, competition, and opportunities in the field.
  • Travel frequently throughout the state, including remote and rural areas. Youโ€™ll spend most of your time on the road, not behind a desk.

What You Bring
  • At least 2 years of outside sales experience โ€” cannabis is great, but not required if youโ€™ve got a proven track record elsewhere.
  • Strong communication skills โ€” persuasive, clear, and professional with clients and internal teams alike.
  • Relationship-building mindset โ€” you know how to earn trust, solve problems, and create value.
  • Self-motivated and organized โ€” you manage your time, your route, and your accounts independently.
  • Tech proficiency โ€” comfortable using CRM software and mobile sales tools to stay efficient and accountable.
  • Must be based in or near Portland with reliable transportation and the ability to travel statewide.
  • OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit โ€” required to start.

Additional Details
  • Compensation: Base salary + commission (uncapped)
  • Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off, retirement plan options
  • Reimbursements: Mileage and client-related expenses covered
  • Perks: Company car provided for statewide travel

If youโ€™ve been waiting for the right company to break into cannabis โ€” or the right brand to elevate your existing book โ€” this is it.

Apply now and bring your drive, your voice, and your vision to Vibes Wholesale.
