What is cannabis insurance?

Cannabis insurance is a specialized type of insurance designed to protect businesses operating in the cannabis industry from various risks, such as property damage, product liability, theft, and crop loss. Since cannabis remains federally illegal in the U.S., traditional insurance policies often don’t cover these businesses, requiring tailored coverage that meets state regulations. Cannabis insurance can include general liability, product liability, workers’ compensation, and other policies specific to cultivation, manufacturing, retail, and distribution. It's essential for cannabis businesses to obtain proper insurance to safeguard their assets, employees, and customers.
