Job description

Position Summary:
Manages the overall order and operations of Everstand's programs. Provides leadership, coaching and direction to staff and families. Understands and implements policies according to agency standards and enforces policies across our continuum of care. Effectively works as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates excellence in problem solving, communication, and documentation. Serves as a liaison to our community partners by maintaining positive professional relationships. Provides support for effective supervision to direct care staff and campus. Serves in partnership to the On-Call Supervisor for support of managing on-call staff coverage.
Essential Functions:
  • Model and act in accordance with Everstand's core values.
  • Demonstrate and practice trauma informed leadership.
  • Provides accurate, detailed and timely information to the designated Administrator on Call; reporting any health and safety concerns, environmental accidents, motor vehicle accidents, arrests, serious hospitalizations and major campus or community incidents.
  • Provides accurate, detailed and timely information to the designated Administrator on Call when requesting to activate the therapist on call. Contacts the TOC with accurate and detailed information related to the youth's behavioral health emergency.
  • Ensures that the campus is operating within the contractual staffing ratios for each program area and/or to meet the current safety needs. Reports attempts to find coverage to the Administrator on Call when requesting to activate the Mandatory on Call Staff, utilize OT or initiates a freeze. Completes the Overtime Utilization Form each time an AOC approves the use of OT.
  • Completes rounds throughout the campus providing oversight, coaching, and guidance to the staff and youth. Provides feedback to staff regarding health and safety concerns. Documents health and safety concerns on the Campus Supervisor Shift Report. Checks the logbooks during these rounds to ensure that documentation is current and consistent with the current activity.
  • Contributes to the prevention and management of challenging behaviors by implementing the Everstand's Behavior Management and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques.
  • Provides direction and support to the Lead Treatment Support Specialists with regards to job assignments, emergency situations, feedback to incidents, and scheduling.
  • Participates in a pre-shift huddle with the exiting Campus Supervisor and Lead Treatment Support Specialists.
  • Ensures accurate medication administration, documentation and safe storage of medication in accordance with the guidelines of the State of Maryland. Assigns a CMT to assist with Medication Administration in the absence of a nurse.
  • Communicates medical emergencies to the Nurse on Call. If the youth needs off site treatment, in the absence of the nurse, gather the relevant paperwork such as the health visit form, face sheet, and a copy of the insurance cards.
  • Communicates the follow-up needed through email to the youth's treatment team.
  • Manages the assigned Campus Supervisor emergency vehicle to ensure it is available as needed. Assists staff with making sure vehicles are rotated and/or shared to help support the transportation needs of the campus.
  • Conducts walkie talkie checks and community-based check-ins as outlined, in the Campus Supervisor Overview Report.
  • Promotes effective communication through the timely submission of documentation. Submits the Campus Supervisor Report at the end of each shift. Submits thorough and accurate documentation, with any additional supporting documentation at the end of each shift.
  • Provide written documentation addressing policy violations that occur in the absence of the staff assigned supervisor.
  • Professionally interact both by phone and in person with parents/guardians, placements agencies, lawyers, police, community partners, and others invest in the care of the youth we serve.
  • Provides coverage for direct childcare services, ensures that twenty-four hours, seven days a week, childcare services are met.
  • Contacts the on call administrator to report any matters relevant to the Child Protection Act, any resident's criminal involvement, resident and/or staff safety issues and emergency situations related to the agencies physical state.
  • Completes campus rounds every hour to ensure that agency functioning is not breached and each unit is adequately supervised.
  • Ensures that the staff to resident ratio is adequate and consistent with the agency policy and unit needs by providing coverage in units as necessary.
  • Contributes to the prevention and management of challenging behaviors by implementing the UMHC's Behavior Management and SCM techniques.
  • Participates as a member of each resident's Interdisciplinary Treatment Team for the purpose of treatment/discharge planning and reviews. Must effectively communicate both written and verbally with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team.
  • Monitors therapeutic activities throughout campus.
  • Manages the campus supervisor telephone and problem solves any issues that may arise on campus. A supervisor and/or campus supervisor must be present on campus whenever there are 16 or more children present.
  • Conducts job-related trainings on a yearly basis.
  • Promotes effective communication through the timely submission of documentation and weekly team meetings.
  • Demonstrates the ability and knowledge of conducting an initial admission or residents into the agency.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of daily routines and the need for consistency within the unit.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to complete accurate bi-weekly timesheets.
  • Demonstrates the ability to complete an accurate staff schedule, while minimizing and/or eliminating overtime.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of unit systems, and effectively oversees their completion.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of health and safety standards through ensuring compliance throughout the agency.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the carious programs at the UMHC in order to adequately orient and guide staff.
  • Demonstrates the ability to receive, transmit, store and retrieve information as evidenced through written documentation in a record log and verbal communication.
  • Obtain and maintain certification as a "user" in Everstand's electronic health record software system.

Non-Essential Functions:
  • Provides training and onboarding to Supervisors, Directors, LTSS's and Campus Supervisors across all of Everstand's programs.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
In the nature of being at a residential and school living environment there may be times you experience conditions in which challenging behavior can be exhibited from our youth to include but not limited to, physical agitation, physical violence and/or emotion outburst.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are flexible to include evening and weekend hours at both on-site and off-site locations. The position is essential for weather emergencies. Eligible for flex schedule within the pay week per Everstand's policy and supervisor approval.
M-F 3pm-11pm varied with 2pm-11pm M-Th
Travel
Travel to and from other Everstand locations is expected. At times out of State travel may be required to assist in transporting a youth.
Required Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 1 year work experience with children. -OR- An associate's degree and/or 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university with 3 years work experience with children.
  • Must be certified in Medication Administration through the State of Pennsylvania during employment. (Training provided by the agency).

Preferred Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree with three years supervisory or management experience.

-OR-
  • A master's degree with one year supervisory or management experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must be able to type 50 wpm.
  • Able to learn and effectively utilize different technology platforms.
  • Excellent computer use knowledge with Microsoft Windows 10 and 365 Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
