Job description

Smartly is looking for a Brand Design Intern to join our Brand team in Chicago for the summer. In this role, you'll support creative projects across digital design, social content, and brand storytelling while working closely with designers, marketers, and cross-functional teams. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, fast-moving environment while contributing to work seen across Smartly's brand channels and campaigns.

This is a full-time summer internship based in our Chicago office with a hybrid schedule of three in-office days per week. Lunch is provided Tuesday through Thursday..

What You Will Do. . .
  • Create digital illustrations, graphics, and visual assets that support Smartly's brand and marketing initiatives
  • Assist in developing social media creative and campaign materials across multiple platforms
  • Support presentations, templates, and visual storytelling in Google Slides and Figma
  • Collaborate with the Brand team to maintain consistency across visual identity and brand guidelines
  • Contribute ideas and creative concepts during brainstorming sessions and design reviews
  • Manage multiple assignments and timelines while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Incorporate feedback thoughtfully and iterate on creative work based on team direction
  • Partner with teammates across marketing and brand projects to support day-to-day creative execution
What we are looking for...
  • Current college student pursuing a degree in graphic design, visual communication, marketing, or a related field
  • Experience creating digital illustrations and visual design work through coursework, internships, freelance, or personal projects
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience using Figma and Google Slides
  • Understanding of social media platforms and basic content strategy
  • Previous internship experience in a creative, marketing, or related environment
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfortable asking questions, seeking guidance, and collaborating with teammates
  • Self-motivated, curious, humble, and eager to contribute where needed
  • Able to take direction well and apply feedback constructively

This internship is paid at $20 per hour and will be approximately 30 hours per week between June 16th and August 20th of 2026.
