What is campaign execution?

Campaign execution is the process of implementing and managing marketing or advertising campaigns according to a planned strategy. It involves coordinating tasks such as content creation, media placement, and tracking performance using tools like marketing automation platforms. Effective campaign execution ensures that campaign goals are met efficiently and within deadlines.

What are some common challenges faced in a campaign execution role, and how can I prepare for them?

In a Campaign Execution role, you'll often face challenges such as tight deadlines, managing multiple campaigns simultaneously, and ensuring cross-functional coordination. It's important to develop strong organizational skills and attention to detail, as these help you track timelines, deliverables, and performance metrics accurately. Effective communication with creative, analytics, and sales teams is also key to troubleshooting issues quickly and adapting to last-minute changes. Location: Vienna, VA
Position Status: Contract
Pay Rate: W2 (with 56 hours PTO) $55-$60.00/hr. C2C: $65-$70.00/hr.
? What You'll Actually Be Doing
This is not just campaign execution - it's decisioning + personalization at scale.
You'll:
  • Turn customer behavioral insights into live campaigns
  • Build and configure logic inside Pega Customer Decision Hub (CDH)
  • Define:
    • Audience targeting
    • Eligibility rules
    • Contact policies
    • Prioritization logic
  • Launch omnichannel campaigns (inbound + outbound)
  • Validate performance using:
    • SQL
    • Simulations
    • Post-launch analytics
  • Continuously optimize campaigns (A/B testing, suppression rules, tuning)

In short: You are the bridge between marketing strategy, data, and decision engines.
Key Skills They REALLY Care About
These are the make-or-break areas:
1. Pega CDH (Critical)
  • Decision strategies
  • Engagement & contact policies
  • Treatments & arbitration logic
?? If you don't have hands-on CDH, this role is tough to land.
2. ? SQL + Analytics
  • Validate targeting logic
  • Analyze campaign performance
  • Explain results to stakeholders
3. Personalization & Targeting
  • Translating business requirements into:
    • Segments
    • Rules

4. Agile Delivery
  • User stories
  • Acceptance criteria
  • QA/testing coordination
What Makes This Role Interesting
  • Focus on Next Best Interaction (NBI) ? advanced personalization
  • True omnichannel orchestration (not siloed campaigns)
  • Heavy exposure to:
    • Decision engines
    • Behavioral data
    • Real-time marketing

This is closer to:
MarTech + Decision Science + Campaign Ops
Who This Role Is PERFECT For
You're a great fit if you are:
  • A Pega CDH developer/analyst
  • A campaign analyst moving into decisioning
  • Someone with:
    • Martech platforms (Adobe, Salesforce, etc.)
    • AND strong SQL + personalization logic
How to Position Yourself (if applying)
Highlight:

  • "Used SQL to validate audience and measure performance"
  • "Worked in agile environments delivering campaign releases"
Quick Self-Check
You're likely a strong candidate if you can say YES to:
