Girl Scouts of Central Indiana serves 45 Indiana counties, nearly more than 16,000 Girl Scouts and 10,000 adult volunteers. We are the proud facilitators of Girl Scout camp at five Indiana locations, conveners of thousands of Girl Scout programs with nearly 600 community partners and serve thousands more community members each year at our STEM Center of Excellence and Founders Lodge Event and Conference Center.
About the Role:
What You Will Do:
The Lead Program Specialist will direct and supervise staff to coordinate the activities of program specialists that are consistent with Girl Scout standards.
How You Will Lead:
In conjunction with the camp director, plan and schedule activities that reflect the Girl Scout program.
Serve as consultants for Program Leaders and Unit Leaders for program ideas within the units.
Acts as an ambassador for camp visitors and parents.
Along with the camp director and assistant camp director, help handle camper emergencies.
Create after-care programming for after-care campers.
These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required.
In the event that a Program Specialist is unable to complete their duties, the Lead Program Specialist will be asked to:
  1. Deliver Girl Scout program to units and girls.
  2. Conduct program planning and delivery.
  3. Help to create new and exciting programs.
  4. Teach appreciation of the out-of-doors.
  5. Guide activities and experiences through use of girl-leader planning, and the Girl Scout program.
  6. Coordinates program activities for specific areas.
  7. Work with Campers, Aides, Volunteer Directors, Volunteer Staff, and other Staff.
  8. Assume responsibility for physical health and safety and the mental welfare of the campers.
  9. Be responsible for unit cleaning/activity at the end of each session and at the end of camp.
  10. Act as ambassador for the unit and activity area.
  11. Assist Kitchen Staff when not facilitating program activity/planning.
  12. Keep records and make reports as required.
  13. Makes every effort to have a strong, cohesive program to provide the best program and atmosphere for the campers.
  14. Follow camp rules and regulations.
  15. Helps with when needed at other camp activities, helps in the kitchen with cleaning up and serving when needed.
  16. Cleans and stores equipment at the end of summer.
  17. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassessed, and other duties may be assigned as required.

What We Are Looking For:
  1. At least 18 years old.
  2. First Aid/AED certified.
  3. Lifeguard certified.
  4. Student Air Rifle program certified.
  5. Archery certified.
  6. At least one season of experience in administration or supervisory.
  7. Capacity (preferably in organized youth activities).
  8. Ability to select, train, and supervise staff.
  9. Ability to adapt to changes.
  10. Ability to direct others in crisis situations.
  11. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  12. Ability to develop a positive relationship with the public.

Must hold membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscribe to the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
