What is a camp controller?

Camp Controllers are professionals responsible for overseeing the financial, administrative, and logistical operations of a camp, often in remote or industrial settings. Their duties typically include managing budgets, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with company policies, and coordinating supplies and services. They play a crucial role in maintaining efficient camp operations and supporting the well-being of residents and staff. Camp Controllers often work in sectors such as mining, oil and gas, or large-scale construction projects where temporary camps are established.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a camp controller, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Camp Controller, you need strong financial management skills, attention to detail, and typically a degree in accounting, finance, or business administration. Familiarity with accounting software, payroll systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are commonly required, along with relevant certifications such as CPA or equivalent. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills help manage camp operations and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams. Camp Controllers often face challenges such as managing diverse teams, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with company policies in remote or resource-limited environments. Our camps include: Rock Band (ages 7+), Rock City World Tour (ages 3.5-7), Intro to DJ (ages 8+), Beat Making ( ages 8+), and Glee Club (ages 7+)

B2R Summer Camps run weekly from May 30th - August 9th, Monday through Friday from 9am-12:30pm and 12:30pm-4pm.

Summer Music Camp Leaders at Bach to Rock embrace a philosophy of well-balanced music education to inspire students to learn and perform the music they love in a group setting!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Attend and complete camp training, prior to starting camp
  • Lead week-long camps using B2R curriculum activities and song arrangements
  • Create weekly or daily schedules, taking into account children’s age groups and interests
  • Guide students in developing their own original music
  • Escort and oversee children in a controlled environment to ensure the campers are safe and well behave

Requirements:

  • Multi-instrumentalists are preferred (especially for those interested in teaching Rock Band Camp)
  • Experience using DJ or Music Production software and equipment (for those interested in teaching Intro to DJ and/or Beat Making Camp)
  • Vocal training background (for those interested in teaching Glee Club Camp)
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to keep a group of students on task in a productive rehearsal
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of personalities

  • Experience working with young children (including students of toddler or pre-k age for those interested in teaching Rock City World Tour Camp)
  • Past teaching experience is a plus, most notably in music
  • Ability to interact effectively with both children and adults
  • Ability to pass a background check

Bach to Rock offers the opportunity to work a flexible part time schedule in a fun environment with other like-minded musicians. We handle the marketing, scheduling, booking, billing and other business aspects, so that you can focus on teaching.
