Job Summary

As an Imagery Systems Engineer at Aetos Systems, you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, testing, and overseeing the installation of electrical communication systems at Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, including mission imagery systems (both photo and video imagery).

This is a represented staff position with the IBEW Union.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Frequent use and application of electrical, mechanical, and computer science engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Work with customers to develop system requirements.
  • Define configuration of various imagery components, including and not limited to: Baseband, Infrared, High Speed Digital and IP camera systems, camera pan/tilt and tracking components, timecode inserters, video encoders and decoders, media converters, video routing systems, imagery recorders and display units.
  • Work with Cable and Transmission team members to design and implement imaging systems for flight hardware processing facilities, Launch Control Center, and various field locations on the Kennedy Space Center.
  • Research and define โ€œOff the Shelfโ€ solutions supporting system development.
  • Work with Manufacturers in configuring products to meet system requirements.
  • Develop material and labor estimates to meet project requirements.
  • Order materials and components that meet system specifications.
  • Follow through with Manufacturers and Suppliers to meet project deadlines.
  • Work with Drafting team members to develop and maintain detailed system drawings.
  • Develop component and system Acceptance Test Procedures, Functional Test Procedures, and Operational Instructions.
  • Oversee the execution of test procedures, support day-to-day and major operations.
  • Provides solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Works under general supervision.

Requirements

Required Minimum Education:

  • A Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is required, plus 5 yearsโ€™ experience,

or

  • A Masterโ€™s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an engineering program accredited by ABET and three (3) years of Engineering Experience.

Required Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, Certifications, etc.:

  • Strong understanding of Engineering principles and technologies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer administration.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to pass a NASA background investigation.
  • Must be able to pass an initial and random drug testing.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driverโ€™s License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normally works in an environmentally controlled setting.
  • Occasionally works at customer sites to include outdoors.
  • Outdoor conditions may be in cold and hot temperatures, high humidity, and windy conditions.
  • Sometimes requires lifting up to 35 - 50 pounds and working on uneven surfaces, and standing for long periods.
