Caltrans District Eight Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Under the direction of a Senior Transportation Surveyor, the incumbent performs a wide variety of professional land surveying work, primarily in an office setting and occasionally in a field setting. The incumbent will be responsible for the maintenance, tracking, and updating of documents and maps that show State right of ways acquired and disposed of and the interpretation thereof. The incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing the preparation of maps and documents needed to acquire, sell, relinquish, vacate, and monument State right of ways.
Updates and maintains existing and new R/W record maps by entering new information such as recording date for deeds, final orders of condemnation, relinquishments and vacations. Responsible for keeping maps orderly, restoring maps as necessary and updating R/W record map database as required. Files all the above documents and maps including survey notes and records.

Working Conditions
Position located at 703 B St., Marysville, Yuba County.
While at the base of operations, will work in a climate-controlled office building under artificial light.
• Normal work assignments are within District 3 but on occasion may include field work outdoors or temporary work assignments statewide .
• Will work at workstations in single or shared cubicles .
• Normal work schedule consists of five 8-hour days each week. Alternate work schedules may be required. There is a possibility of temporary work schedule changes as projects dictate .
• Overtime may be required and vacations may be restricted as departmental workload dictates .
• Assigned outdoor tasks may occur in various types of terrain and weather conditions and include exposure to dirt, noise, traffic, and moving across uneven surfaces.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving tele work policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their work sites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
Candidates that meet the minimum qualifications based on possession of an education, a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT), or Land Surveyor (LS) certificate must include a copy of your degree/transcripts, LSIT, or LS certificate along with your State application (STD. 678) to be considered for this position.

Special Requirements

• Possession of a valid certificate as a Land Surveyor in Training, Engineer in Training, or Professional Land Surveyor.

• Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Land Surveying License issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, this is not required.
