Job description

Summary:
Exceptional customer service. Answers the phone when patients call to place food orders and retrieves all voice messages in a friendly, timely, and helpful manner.  This position needs to maintain a friendly and cheerful demeanor at all times while on duty.  Prepares snacks and tube feedings for delivery.  This position must maintain open communication with the patient, nursing staff, and room service hostesses and cooks using our AIDET and Destination 10 processes.

Requirements:
Must be efficient at data entry and have a good working knowledge of Excel and Word. Familiarity with MediTech order entry preferred.
Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in Food and Nutrition, human environmental sciences, or similar course work or advanced nutrition coursework.
Required: Henry County Health Center Food Handlers Card.


Responsibilities:
Attention to detail.  Enters food onto the correct forms for each patient's physician's ordered diet.
Must be familiar with all menu offerings, diet variations, and specifics of what may be ordered by patients based on their physician's prescribed diet.
Must give orders in a timely manner to cooks to ensure delivery within 45 minutes of order.
Assists with data collection and reporting for continuous quality improvement.
Team Player. During cart dismantling or 'tray scrapping', this position assumes tray-line work.
This position may prepare or get items to patient (via tray elevator for hostess delivery, via food cart, or self-delivery) during slow periods or when service recovery is needed. May be willing to cover/assist with any foodservice position or perform other duties as needed or assigned.
Nutrition/diet knowledge.  This position must be capable of teaching nutrition principles to patients and communicate patient nutrition needs/desires to cooks, delivery staff, and dietitians.
