Job description

Systems Supervisor, Metering & Distribution
Position Summary Responsible for supervising metering and distribution operations, ensuring accurate meter reading and consumption validation, maintaining and upgrading the distribution system, and ensuring regulatory documentation and reporting is completed. This role leads day-to-day field activities, coordinates internal and external resources, manages the department budget, and provides after-hours response for emergent system issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
• Manage Metering and Distribution personnel, including setting daily work expectations and priorities.
• Ensure the after-hours contact list is kept current.
• Manage after-hours emergent situations and distribution system work, as needed.
Metering Operations
• Oversee month-end meter reading activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Partner with plant administrators to ensure proper consumption tracking and reconciliation.
• Oversee meter calibration schedules and review results; ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Oversee meter upgrade projects, including planning, scheduling, and contractor coordination.
• Coordinate with contractors for meter installations.
Distribution System Operations & Maintenance
• Oversee distribution system projects, including vault replacements and refurbishments.
• Oversee scheduled distribution system maintenance, including regularly scheduled vault inspections and trap inspections.
• Ensure vaults have water pumped out as needed so piping insulation is not compromised by water penetration.
• Coordinate with contractors for distribution piping repairs and other system repairs.
• Coordinate with customers regarding system repairs and excessive system make-up; develop working relationships with customer building engineers.
Budget, Compliance & Documentation
• Manage the metering department budget, including planning, tracking, and cost control.
• Ensure proper documentation of regulatory compliance; file pump reports with the City of Omaha.
• Maintain clear records of calibrations, inspections, repairs, and project work.
Qualifications
• Supervisory experience leading field and/or plant-related operations teams (metering, utilities, distribution systems, or similar).
• Working knowledge of meter reading practices, meter calibration, and consumption/usage reconciliation.
• Experience coordinating maintenance and capital projects (e.g., vault replacements/refurbishments, piping repairs) and managing contractors.
• Ability to maintain regulatory documentation and submit required reports (including pump reports) to external agencies (e.g., City of Omaha).
• Budget management experience, including tracking spend and supporting annual planning.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal stakeholders, customers, contractors, and building engineers.
• Ability to respond to after-hours emergent situations; willingness to be on-call
Working Conditions
This position includes a mix of office and field work and requires travel to customer sites, vault locations, and distribution system assets. Work may include responding to after-hours emergencies and coordinating time-sensitive repairs. All work must be performed in accordance with Cordia's safety policies and procedures.
