Job description

The overnight Residential Supervisor is the direct supervisor for the Youth Care Worker team and plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and comfort of children residing at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch during overnight hours. We are looking for someone who can lead our overnight Youth Care team and promote consistent adherence to protocol. This position requires on-site residence with housing provided.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision to a team of night-shift youth care workers in a residential childcare environment.
  • Coordinates staff scheduling.
  • Monitors safety and comfort of residents.
  • Oversees consistent adherence to expectations and protocols within the youth care worker team; ensures room checks are completed properly.
  • Supervises staff in and personally exhibits appropriate interactions with residents.
  • Performs all supervisory duties related to training, mentoring and developing night staff.
  • Audits overnight check logs from night-shift youth care workers.

General Responsibilities

  • Responds to alerts triggered by the opening of doors or windows at residential facilities; conducts on-site assessments as needed.
  • Performs routine checks of each residence each night in accordance with minimum standards and Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch policy and procedures.
  • Performs nightly visual checks on awake night youth care workers.
  • Ensures night staff are completing nightly check logs. Ensure logs are filed appropriately.
  • Performs weekly checks to ensure home medications are accurate.
  • Reviews and monitors residence security footage.
  • Provides transportation to residents as assigned and building access as needed.
  • Effectively communicates with Campus Life Supervisors, Casework and Homelife staff regarding pertinent staff and resident issues.
  • Assists in program evaluation, program development, training, and employee evaluations with administrators.
  • On an On-Call rotation as required.

Requirements

- A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.

- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred.

- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a childcare environment is required.

- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in staff supervision, to include interviewing/hiring, performance evaluations, etc., is preferred.

- Supervisory/Managerial experience is strongly preferred.

- Basic competency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, etc.) is required.

- Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.

- Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required.

- Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.

- Must be willing to reside on campus in housing provided, while on call.

- Must be at least 21 years of age.

- Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.

- Must be available for travel as needed.
