Manager of Market Operations, CAISO - Contract to Hire - Remote in CA
About the Role
We are seeking a Manager of Market Operations, CAISO to lead day-to-day CAISO market participation and optimization. This role is the organization's in-house CAISO expert, responsible for bidding strategy, scheduling, settlements, forecasting, and compliance.
You'll work closely with Scheduling Coordinators, internal stakeholders, and external partners to maximize portfolio value while ensuring full compliance with CAISO rules and tariffs.
What You'll Do
  • Lead CAISO bidding strategies for load, BESS, hybrid resources, and CRRs
  • Oversee load forecasting, scheduling, dispatch, and outage coordination
  • Manage settlements, disputes, and month-end close with Finance
  • Monitor CAISO BPMs, tariffs, and market redesign initiatives
  • Support new resources through CAISO NRI onboarding
  • Produce executive-ready dashboards and performance reporting
  • Manage vendors and coach a high-performing Market Operations team

What We're Looking For:
  • 7+ years of CAISO market operations experience
  • Hands-on expertise with Scheduling Coordinator processes and settlements
  • Strong knowledge of CPUC, CEC, CAISO, CARB, and FERC requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or related field (Master's a plus)
  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
