Position Summary

The Cage Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Cage operations and employees. The Cage Supervisor will make sure all Cage Cashiers are on task and report all information to the Cage Manager. The Supervisor will handle jackpots and all other issues in the Cage area in the Cage Manager absence. All information and issues will be reported to the Cage Manager. The Cage Supervisor will work hours appropriate to meet the needs of the business, which may include nights, weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions of the Position

  • Perform supervisory responsibilities in the department as directed by the Manager or Lead Supervisor
  • Provide technical assistance and training to cashiers by explaining and demonstrating the work performed
  • Ensure department is conducted in compliance with Tribal, Federal, and State regulations
  • Responsible for the compilation of all necessary information and preparation of reports needed to comply with Tribal, Federal, and State regulations
  • Prepare daily spreadsheets for administrative records
  • Work with Cage Manager to implement procedure changes, testing and work flow
  • Oversee Cage operations when Cage Manager is not on duty
  • Supervise cashiers
  • Routine posting and preparation of data for reports and documentation
  • Direct and assist in the performance of tasks when needed
  • Use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others
  • Run cash drawer to help with guests
  • Check out cashiers daily verify all paperwork is accurate and correct
  • Record all attendance for shift
  • Inform manager of any known dishonest or inappropriate behaviors
  • Stay current on training for Title 31, check cashing system, credit card system, jackpots, payouts, CTRC spreadsheet, MIL spreadsheet, tracking long and policies and procedures
  • Will assign cashiers on daily line ups
  • Ensure Thunderbird quality guest service and cheerful atmosphere is maintained
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness of department at all times
  • Make good and proper decisions that reflect positively on you and the Casino
  • Maintain proper compliance at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and experience creating and explaining a variety of reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; skill in working in an environment subject to constant interruptions and quickly changing priorities; ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities when necessary; effective time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of the operation of a variety of computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet applications, and 10 key and proficient typing.
  • Knowledge of cash and ticket handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of Tribal/State/Federal laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, vendors, Board members, and the public, both in person and through phone, e-mail and written correspondence.
  • Ability to learn quickly, self-leader with initiative, highly flexible and comfortable in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability and accuracy to handle large sums of money.
  • Ability to train and supervise a variety of employees.
  • Skill in communication with guest and employees in any situation and handling guest disputes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervisory responsibilities for Cage team members under the guidance of the Cage Manager and/or the Lead Supervisor.

Physical Demands

  • Required to walk, sit and stand for periods of time.
  • Ability to push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and move intermittently throughout the day.

Work Environment

  • Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
  • Exposure to smoke and second hand smoke.
  • Noise level can be minimal to intense.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience combined).
  • Two (2) years casino experience preferred.
  • One (1) year Cage experience required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a key gaming license.
