Location: Outpatient Substance Use Treatment Program – South Plainfield

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and clinically driven Substance Use Counselor / Group Facilitator to join our growing outpatient team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with clients, lead impactful group sessions, and be part of a supportive, mission-driven environment.

What You’ll Do

Lead Engaging Group Sessions

  • Facilitate dynamic, structured outpatient groups using evidence-based practices

  • Create a safe, supportive, and interactive environment that encourages participation and growth

  • Guide discussions on key recovery topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills, and stages of change

Provide Individual Support

  • Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions tailored to each client’s needs

  • Help clients build motivation, overcome barriers, and achieve treatment goals

Develop Meaningful Treatment Plans

  • Complete assessments and collaborate with clients to create personalized, goal-oriented treatment plans

  • Track progress and adjust plans to support long-term recovery success

Stay Organized & Compliant

  • Complete clinical documentation accurately and on time

  • Maintain records that meet regulatory, licensing, and insurance standards

Support Client Success

  • Monitor attendance and engagement

What We’re Looking For
  • CADC Intern, CADC, or LCADC (New Jersey)

  • Experience or strong interest in facilitating group therapy

  • Knowledge of substance use treatment and recovery models

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills

  • A passion for helping diverse populations in a group setting

Bonus Skills (Not Required, But a Plus!)
  • Experience in outpatient or IOP programs

  • Familiarity with urine drug screening

  • Experience working with court-referred or probation clients

  • Comfort using electronic health record systems
