This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer - InterSystems Cache & TrakCare HIS based in Netherlands.

The role combines software engineering, system integration, troubleshooting, and deployment support across complex healthcare workflows.

Accountabilities:

The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting healthcare information systems while ensuring performance, reliability, and seamless integration across platforms. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, customizing, and maintaining healthcare applications built on the InterSystems TrakCare HIS platform using Cache/MUMPS and Cache ObjectScript.
  • Designing Cache classes, business logic layers, data access components, and reusable software modules to improve maintainability and scalability.
  • Configuring, integrating, and troubleshooting interfaces through the Ensemble integration engine to enable secure and reliable data exchange between clinical and administrative systems.
  • Designing and integrating RESTful APIs, including healthcare, insurance, and payment-related third-party integrations.
  • Building and optimizing SQL-based reports, data extraction processes, reconciliation scripts, and operational reporting solutions.
  • Automating recurring reports and scheduled activities using Cache ObjectScript and the MUMPS Task Manager.
  • Improving system performance by optimizing SQL queries, Cache/MUMPS routines, and stored procedures.
  • Performing code reviews, debugging, and defect resolution to maintain high-quality software delivery.
  • Investigating integration issues, data inconsistencies, and interface failures to improve system reliability and data accuracy.
  • Supporting testing activities, deployments, go-lives, and post-implementation stabilization across multiple healthcare units.
  • Collaborating with clinical and administrative stakeholders to understand requirements and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • Contributing to technical discussions, knowledge sharing, and mentoring of junior team members.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience developing healthcare software solutions, strong knowledge of InterSystems technologies, and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Required qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare IT, healthcare software development, or health information systems support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with InterSystems Cache, Cache ObjectScript, and MUMPS development.
  • Proven experience working with the InterSystems TrakCare HIS platform.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction, reporting, validation, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with the Ensemble integration engine for interface configuration and healthcare system integrations.
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and third-party healthcare interfaces.
  • Experience automating reports and scheduled processes using Cache ObjectScript and MUMPS Task Manager.
  • Working knowledge of Core Java and software engineering principles.
  • Experience with debugging, code reviews, and resolving defects throughout software release cycles.
  • Familiarity with hospital workflows such as Billing, Registration, EMR, Laboratory, MIS reporting, and revenue-cycle operations.
  • Experience supporting deployments, go-lives, and production environments across multiple healthcare units.
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments and distributed delivery teams.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, ownership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with HL7 v2.x message types (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, MDM), routing, transformation, and Ensemble integrations.
  • Exposure to InterSystems HealthShare and healthcare interoperability solutions.
  • Experience with TrakCare reporting tools, CSP (Cache Server Pages), and LogiReport.
  • Knowledge of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), billing, claims, and credit-control workflows.
  • Exposure to healthcare platforms such as Midas (Symplr).
  • Experience integrating healthcare systems with solutions such as ABHA, ClaimBook, and insurance/payer APIs.
