Position Summary

The Senior Producer will manage a portion of the Programming team to create engaging, topical content for live programming. Experience with multiple content distribution platforms (Cable TV, OTT, YouTube) is preferred. The person in this role must be a strong writer, flexible in breaking news situations, and able to command a live TV control room. Creative risk-taking, curiosity about the weather, and adaptability are all a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Rundown creation and management with ENPS software

  • Ability to segment and/or line produce and manage those roles within a team

  • Capable researcher for weather and climate data

  • Producing, writing, and overseeing live and taped segments from concept to completion

  • Coordination with assignment desk and field crews to ensure the most accurate, engaging content makes it to air during weather events

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

  • 10 years experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, or equivalent knowledge

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to build and maintain strong professional relationships with on-air talent, editors and production team

  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable candidate to deal effectively with broad spectrum of personalities, styles and dispositions

  • Ability to work extremely well in collaborative environment

  • Strong strategic mind-set

  • Ability to work well under deadline pressure in a fast-paced, high pressure environment without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to coordinate logistics across newsroom teams & production departments

  • Excellent Written/Verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and respond to changes in priorities and demands of the business environment
