Job description

The Role:

The Cable Operator is responsible for setting up and operating various production machines and equipment according to specifications. They will start the device and observe machine operation to reposition the workpiece or adjust machine settings for multiple or successive passes; inspects or measures work using rule, gauges, and templates.  
This position is located in La Vergne, Tennessee. It is second shift 2:00pm - 10:30pm.  

Your Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret specifications and work orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.  
  • Observe machine operations, material supplies, and the position of workpieces to detect malfunctions, needed supplies, or misaligned parts.  
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on machines as scheduled and required .  
  • Works individually and as a team to develop and implement quality and efficiency improvements.  
  • Conducts tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance; examines products or work to verify conformance to specifications.  
  • Must be able to lift over 75 lbs 

Requirements:

  • At least one year of professional working experience as a Cable Operator or related experience/training; High School Diploma or GED is preferred.  
  • Proven working experience adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions, and decimals.
  • Ability and understanding of various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications.  
  • Proven working experience reading and interpreting documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.  
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in following through, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
