Job Summary:
This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of internet, video, voice, and structured cabling systems for residential and business customers. This role requires a strong technical background in copper and fiber-based technologies, including DSL, VDSL, ADSL, FTTH, CBRS, Ethernet, and PoE systems. The technician serves as a direct point of contact for customers, delivering exceptional service while efficiently resolving technical issues and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities include configuring and supporting customer premise equipment, performing structured cabling installations, diagnosing service impairments, maintaining accurate service documentation, and supporting infrastructure-related projects. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. Technicians must be comfortable working in confined spaces such as attics, crawlspaces, equipment rooms, and utility spaces, as well as performing work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair internet, video, and voice services for residential and business customers, including DSL, VDSL, ADSL, FTTH, and CBRS technologies.
- Perform service installations and repairs involving copper infrastructure, copper pairs, SIM cuts, Ethernet cabling, and customer premise equipment.
- Support structured cabling projects, including installation, testing, termination, and documentation of fiber optic, Ethernet, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) systems.
- Configure, update, and troubleshoot routers, modems, set-top boxes, wireless devices, and other network-connected equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve service issues through effective troubleshooting techniques, escalating complex issues when necessary to ensure timely resolution.
- Perform internal wiring installations and repairs while maintaining industry standards for cable routing, labeling, and wire management.
- Conduct site surveys and assist with special projects, including multi-dwelling unit (MDU) rewires, infrastructure upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
- Interact professionally with customers, communicating technical information clearly and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, service activities, equipment usage, and customer interactions.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures while working in residential, commercial, and outdoor environments.
- Work safely in confined spaces, including attics, crawlspaces, equipment rooms, utility closets, and similar environments.
- Perform duties in all weather conditions and varying environmental conditions as required to support customer and network operations.
