A cable installation technician sets up and services devices and equipment that carry communication signals, such as internet routers, TV cable boxes, wiring, and cabling. As a cable technician, you use a variety of tools, like spectrum analyzers and polarity probes, to inspect problems in cable equipment and recalibrate or replace systems as needed. For some cable installation technicians, their responsibilities are only to initially install the devices or cabling. However, you can also find jobs in which your duties are to service and repair telecom equipment.
