Manufacturing Operations Manager – Cabinet Production

Company: Surkado LLC

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $90,000–$110,000 base salary, plus performance bonus

Target Total Compensation: Up to approximately $120,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience and results

About Surkado

Surkado is a growing cabinet and closet manufacturing company serving builders, contractors, resellers and other industry professionals.

Our facility operates two production shifts and uses industrial cabinet-manufacturing equipment, including:
  • Beam saw
  • Automatic CNC loading and unloading system
  • CNC machining equipment
  • Edgebander
  • Automated drilling machine

We have significant equipment capacity but are not currently achieving the production output that the facility should be capable of producing.

We are hiring an experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager with direct cabinet-manufacturing experience to take control of production, improve organization, increase throughput, reduce downtime and build a disciplined, measurable manufacturing operation.

Applicants without direct cabinet-manufacturing experience using industrial production equipment will not be considered.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Operations Manager will be responsible for the performance of the entire cabinet-production operation across both shifts.

This individual will own production scheduling, labor allocation, workflow, machine utilization, quality control, preventive maintenance, shop organization and daily accountability.

The primary objective is to materially increase completed cabinet production while reducing delays, overtime, scrap, remakes and incomplete cabinet packages.

This is not a desk-only management position. The successful candidate must understand how cabinet parts move through cutting, CNC machining, edgebanding, drilling, sorting and downstream production. The manager will spend substantial time on the production floor identifying and correcting the issues that are limiting output.

Primary ResponsibilitiesProduction Management
  • Direct and manage cabinet production across two shifts.
  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly and forward-looking production schedules.
  • Sequence jobs through the beam saw, CNC, edgebander, drilling machine and downstream production processes.
  • Confirm that materials, programs, tooling and labor are available before jobs are released to production.
  • Establish clear daily output expectations for each shift, machine and department.
  • Monitor work in progress and address bottlenecks before they affect delivery schedules.
  • Ensure complete cabinet packages move through production together and are not delayed by missing or remade parts.
  • Coordinate effective handoffs between first and second shifts.
  • Balance workflow between machines so one production area does not overwhelm or starve another.
  • Prioritize work based on production deadlines, installation schedules and customer commitments.
  • Improve the flow of parts from raw sheet goods through finished cabinet components.
Industrial Equipment and Maintenance
  • Oversee the operation and performance of the beam saw, automatic CNC loading and unloading system, CNC equipment, edgebander, drilling machine and related production equipment.
  • Understand machine capacity, cycle times, setup requirements and common causes of downtime.
  • Track machine uptime, downtime, changeovers, maintenance issues and operator performance.
  • Establish and enforce preventive-maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate basic repairs, troubleshooting and outside service when needed.
  • Ensure operators are properly trained to use equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain appropriate spare parts, tooling and maintenance supplies.
  • Identify machine settings, tooling issues, programming problems or operating practices that reduce output or create defects.
  • Reduce avoidable machine stoppages and improve overall equipment utilization.
Process Improvement
  • Evaluate the complete cabinet-manufacturing process and identify the constraints limiting production.
  • Improve nesting, cutting, machining, edgebanding, drilling, sorting, staging and material movement.
  • Reduce unnecessary handling, waiting time, changeovers and production interruptions.
  • Improve part labeling, tracking and organization throughout the facility.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures for critical production activities.
  • Implement practical lean-manufacturing and continuous-improvement principles.
  • Improve labor productivity without sacrificing quality or safety.
  • Determine whether production issues are caused by scheduling, programming, material readiness, staffing, training, equipment or workflow.
  • Recommend equipment, software, staffing or process changes when supported by measurable results.
  • Increase output using the equipment and labor already in place before recommending significant capital purchases.
Quality and Waste Reduction
  • Establish quality-control checks at appropriate points throughout production.
  • Reduce incorrect machining, damaged parts, edgebanding defects, missing components, remakes and rework.
  • Track the cause and cost of scrap and remakes.
  • Correct recurring quality problems through training, process changes, programming corrections or equipment adjustments.
  • Ensure parts meet specifications before moving to the next production stage.
  • Improve the accuracy and completeness of cabinet packages.
  • Hold employees and supervisors accountable for preventable mistakes.
Team Leadership
  • Directly manage production supervisors, shift leads, machine operators and production employees.
  • Assign labor based on production priorities and employee capability.
  • Establish clear expectations for attendance, productivity, quality, safety and shop organization.
  • Train and cross-train employees on industrial cabinet-production equipment and processes.
  • Reduce dependence on individual operators by documenting processes and developing backups.
  • Conduct coaching, performance reviews and disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing and selecting production employees.
  • Develop shift leads and machine operators who can maintain standards without constant supervision.
  • Build a production culture based on urgency, accountability, organization and continuous improvement.
Production Reporting
  • Conduct brief daily production meetings with shift leaders and key employees.
  • Compare scheduled production with completed production.
  • Track and report key performance indicators, including: Completed cabinet packages, Cabinets or production units completed, Sheets and parts processed by machine, On-time production completion, Labor hours per job or production unit, Machine utilization, Machine downtime, Scrap and remake rates, Overtime, Work in process, Preventive-maintenance completion, Quality defects, Safety incidents
  • Provide company leadership with a concise weekly report identifying performance, problems and corrective actions.
  • Use production data to make decisions rather than relying solely on employee activity or anecdotal feedback.
First 90-Day Priorities
  • Learn the existing machinery, software, employees, products and production workflow.
  • Establish a reliable baseline for current cabinet-production output.
  • Identify the primary machine and process bottlenecks.
  • Implement daily scheduling and scheduled-versus-completed reporting.
  • Improve material, part and work-in-process organization.
  • Establish clear first-shift and second-shift handoff procedures.
  • Implement machine downtime, scrap and remake tracking.
  • Create preventive-maintenance schedules for all major production equipment.
  • Evaluate operator capability and identify training or staffing needs.
  • Recommend immediate operational changes that can improve output without major capital investment.
  • Present a measurable six-month production-improvement plan.
Required Qualifications
  • At least five years of experience in cabinet manufacturing.
  • At least three years managing cabinet-production employees, departments or shifts.
  • Direct experience working in a cabinet-manufacturing facility that uses industrial production equipment.
  • Hands-on operational knowledge of beam saws, CNC machining equipment, edgebanders and drilling machines.
  • Experience managing the production flow of cabinet parts from sheet goods through machining and finished components.
  • Experience managing multiple production shifts or multiple production departments.
  • Demonstrated success increasing cabinet-production throughput.
  • Experience reducing scrap, remakes, downtime or labor inefficiency.
  • Experience developing production schedules and managing work in process.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance and basic industrial-equipment troubleshooting.
  • Ability to understand machine capacity, cycle time and production bottlenecks.
  • Ability to lead production employees directly and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work primarily in an active manufacturing environment.
  • General manufacturing experience without direct cabinet-manufacturing and industrial-equipment experience does not meet the requirements for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with automated material-loading and unloading systems.
  • Experience with Cabinet Vision or similar cabinet-production software.
  • Experience with Holz-Her, KDT or comparable industrial cabinet equipment.
  • Experience with nested-based and beam-saw-based cabinet production.
  • Experience producing frameless cabinets, closets or high-volume panel products.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming, optimization and production-data flow.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or continuous-improvement experience.
  • Experience implementing production dashboards, metrics and incentive programs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience coordinating machine repairs.
  • Experience in a cabinet facility producing for builders, contractors or multi-unit projects.
Performance Bonus

The position is eligible for a quarterly performance bonus based on measurable operating results.

Work Environment

This position requires significant time on the production floor and frequent interaction with machine operators, shift leaders and production employees.

The role requires standing, walking through active production areas and assisting with troubleshooting and production issues when necessary.

The Manufacturing Operations Manager must be available to oversee and support both shifts as needed, particularly during the initial assessment and improvement period.
