What is a CBR?

CBRs, or Case-Based Reasoners, are artificial intelligence systems that solve new problems by referencing solutions to similar past problems, known as 'cases.' Instead of relying solely on rules or algorithms, CBRs use a database of prior cases to find matches and adapt their solutions to fit the current scenario. This approach is commonly used in fields such as customer support, medical diagnosis, and legal reasoning, where experience with similar situations is valuable. The core process involves retrieving relevant cases, reusing their solutions, revising as needed, and retaining the new solution for future use.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CBR professional, and why are they important?

To excel as a Certified Business Resilience (CBR) professional, you need a strong background in risk management, business continuity planning, and crisis management, typically supported by a relevant degree and CBR certification. Familiarity with business continuity software, risk assessment tools, and compliance frameworks like ISO 22301 is common in this role. Strong communication, analytical thinking, and leadership skills help you effectively collaborate with stakeholders and guide organizations during disruptions.
