PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

General Air Products is in need of a highly motivated, creative, and independent New Product Development Engineer. The NPD Engineer will take a leading role in the development and management of new products. The individual will be responsible for coordinating the development of new products along with the General Air Products Sales & Marketing team in an effort to reach the best possible solutions.ย 


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESย 

  • Take a leading role in managing projects with support from the New Product Development Team.
  • Conduct research in latest technology to ensure the best quality of new products.
  • Organize, manage, and automate testing of products under development.
  • Assess the required industry standards for new products.
  • Coordinate with the rest of the New Product Development Team in brainstorming new design ideas.
  • Take a leading role or assist in the mechanical and electrical design of new products.
  • Take a leading role or assist in the design of electronic printed circuit boards to be used as an embedded controller on new products.
  • Assist in the assembly of new product prototypes.
  • Develop machine software in C programming language or equivalent.
  • Write HMI/PLC programs.
  • Manage the development of new products from their infant stage all the way into production.
  • Coordinate with vendors and/or other engineering design teams in an effort to gain the best support possible for the development of new products.
  • Create BOM's, instruction manuals, test reports, and other documentation.
  • Manage the transition of new products into production (Recommend manufacturing techniques, Support technicians in setting up manufacturing procedures. Organize and transfer all documentation to production through ECO process.)
  • Present new product development updates with Sales & Marketing.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS (previous education and work experience)

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years' combined experience in project management & mechanical/electrical design.
  • 1+ years' combined experience with C programming language & electronic printed circuit board design.
  • Strong quantitative and communication skills.ย 
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, & Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Design Assisted (EDA) software is required.
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW is required.
  • Excellent and quick brainstormer with creative design ideas.
  • Excellent research skills are required, with an ability to direct the course of a product under development.
  • Must work well within a team.
  • Experience or ability to quickly learn
