Job Description:

The Assembly & Test Team Leader is responsible for leading both assembly and test operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality BW Converting machinery. This role oversees a team of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic assemblers and service technicians, with a strong focus on efficiency, safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The position also leads machine testing and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers to validate machine performance, safety, and functionality.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the Assembly team in building BW Converting machines to maximize efficiency, equipment value, cross-training, and employee development.
  • Lead the Test team in machine power-up, system verification, and execution of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers.
  • Organize, staff, and oversee temporary labor to support packaging machine backlog, including purchase requisitions, safety training, timekeeping, and invoice verification.
  • Direct Assembly team activities for machine teardown and crating for shipment.
  • Monitor and document lumber usage for BW Converting machines to support inspection and cost tracking.
  • Partner with the Quality team to address Quality Incident Reports (QIRs), ensuring proper containment, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Proactively identify assembly issues and collaborate with Engineering to resolve drawing inaccuracies and improve build quality.
  • Promote and sustain a strong safety culture by ensuring adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas; promptly address and correct unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; OR
  • High school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of related manufacturing or assembly experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong technical expertise in assembly, machine testing, fabrication, materials, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in both assembly and testing environments.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Proven problem-solving, planning, and scheduling abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
