Job Description:

The DVP/Business Unit Controller is a strategic business partner to the Telular business unit leadership team, and is responsible for planning, coordinating and administering the accounting activities and financial operations to meet the Corporation’s objectives, including recording and reporting financial results and ensuring strong internal controls.

This position reports directly to the DVP/Business Unit Manager of Telular, but also has a strong dotted line reporting to the AMETEK Measurement, Communications & Testing Division DVP of Finance & IT.

The business unit has financial reporting operations and locations in Illinois, Georgia, and Virginia. In addition, there is close cooperation with AMETEK’s Corporate headquarters and shared service centers.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain effective internal control of all Business Unit operations and locations, including implementation and enforcement of Corporate processes, procedures and controls across the organization. Maintain robust internal control systems, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Ability to diligence inputs and drivers of the financial forecast, including a willingness and ability to take a stand to ensure the integrity of the forecast.
  • Provide management with monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews of the organization’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities in accordance with the Corporations reporting formats and requirements.
  • Ensure timely preparation and review of financial statements and forecasts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff and set goals and objectives to meet Business Unit targets. This leader must have a proven ability to select and develop talent.
  • Coach and develop team members to enhance performance and technical skills.
  • Proven business partnership skills with the demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organizational environment.
  • Serve as strategic advisor on the financial implications of key business decisions.
  • Team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: excellent communication, presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills, well developed problem-solving skills; solid organizational skills; and the ability to be self-directed and effectively relate to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to drive the AMETEK culture throughout the organization
  • Streamlining of financial processes
  • Lead the preparation of annual budget, strategic plan, and operational reviews
  • Manage audits of business units’ financials, as well as internal and external audit requirements and US Sarbanes Oxley-404 (SOX) testing and compliance
  • Perform due diligence on potential acquisition targets. Develop models, business forecasts and trend analysis to support these opportunities, as needed.
  • Represent the company externally, as necessary, to government agencies and auditors.
  • Experience with contract manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with recurring/subscription revenue preferred
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Collaborate closely with corporate and divisional finance teams for alignment.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA and CPA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in operational accounting leadership roles, including controllership
  • 2-3 years at a public accounting firm a plus
  • Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
