Job description

Please note this is not a remote position. 

Virginia Family Dentistry is looking for an experienced full-time IT Manager to work directly with the current IT Director to oversee all IT (Information Technology) functions in our practice and provide high level technical consultation to all doctors, managers, and employees. The ideal candidate will be on a track to move into the Director role within approximately one year of hire. 

Those who apply should have senior engineer level IT knowledge and hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving IT and computer issues. The ideal candidate will be a team-player (willing to work hands-on with the rest of the team), have efficient time management, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. The optimal candidate for this position needs to be able to design and implement information systems to support the enterprise infrastructure of our organization. This candidate will ensure that all systems are working at optimal levels and support the development of new technologies and system requirements. This position will be responsible to lead projects and other teammates and reports directly to the executive management team. This position is responsible to develop best practices and work flows for quality technical service delivery.

  • Microsoft: AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, IIS, Terminal Services, PowerShell, SQL
  • Windows 11 clients and Windows Servers Advanced network security/routing/switching

  • Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience as IT director, manager, or similar role
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  • Experience in controlling information technology budget
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication abilities
  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience supervising the operations and staff of an IT department


Support the IT Director in the following key responsibilities: 
 

  • Strategic IT Leadership: Develop and implement IT strategies that support organizational objectives, including technology roadmaps, digital transformation initiatives, and emerging technology adoption

    • Keep Abreast of changing Technologies
  • IT Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day IT operations, ensuring systems, networks, and applications function reliably and efficiently
    • Help Desk
    • IT Related Supply Orders
    • Keep the company up and running.
  • Team Leadership: Manage IT staff, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance evaluation to foster a collaborative and productive environment
    • Train IT Staff on new software and technology
    • Ensure IT Staff receives the proper training and equipment to do their jobs
  • Infrastructure Oversight: Maintain and upgrade hardware, software, networking systems, and cloud services, ensuring optimal performance and scalability
    • Monitor equipment for failure
    • Monitor logs for intrusion attempts
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance: Ensure data security, network protection, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning
    • Install and maintain hardware and software to ensure compliance and PHI safety. 
    • Educate Employees on good computer compliance hygiene and safety. 
  • Vendor and Budget Management: Oversee IT budgets, negotiate with vendors, and manage contracts to ensure cost-effective technology solutions
     
  • Project Management: Lead IT projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and integrations, ensuring alignment with business priorities
     
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with executives, Doctors, Managers and external partners to identify technology needs and optimize IT solutions


Work Environment

This job operates in a both clinical and clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salary exempt position. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a one hour break from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. As an exempt level employee, there will be times where work will be required outside of our standard work hours.

Travel

Travel will be required to and from travel to different office locations as needed.
