About the Role

The Public Relations Manager - Litigation & Trial is an integral part of Latham's Brand & Communications team. This role will be responsible for serving as a strategic and trusted advisor, talented media relations professional, and engaged mentor, as well as developing and executing PR, media, and communications programs designed to enhance the reputation and build the profile of the practice and partners. This role will be located in either our Washington DC or New York office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Managing proactive press outreach and reactive media, addressing issues that may arise, building relationships with key media, and connecting reporters to partners of the firm who serve as media sources
  • Handling a variety of strategic writing projects, writing, editing, and coordinating a wide range of copy, and serving as a central resource to develop messaging, draft press releases, prepare case notes, develop award entries, write/edit website content, and coordinate survey submissions
  • Placing byline articles, and as appropriate, creating opportunities to leverage thought leadership (e.g., Client Alerts, market reports, podcasts, video, etc.) for press commentary and marketing campaigns, including promoting across the firm's digital and social channels
  • Contributing to leveraging the firm's social media programs to support promoting the expertise and work of the practice
  • Coordinating and liaising with Brand & Communications and BD colleagues to support the firm's event program as well as capitalizing on sponsorships, including developing and implementing public relations campaigns
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains 

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Exhibit knowledge of core public relations and marketing principles including digital marketing, communications, branding, market research, and competitive intelligence
  • Possess excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making) necessary for effective management
  • Demonstrate well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm

And have:

  • A bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of cumulative experience, including a minimum of five (5) years of relevant public relations and marketing experience at a PR agency or in-house
  • Prior work experience and a deep understanding of litigation and familiarity with the legal industry, preferably
