Job description

About this Opportunity:

As a Business Process Automation Lead you will identify and eliminate manual, repetitive, and error-prone operational processes by building robust automated solutions, integrations, and data pipelines. This role sits on Orion's Wealth Trading team and intersects Operations, Engineering, and Data - translating stakeholder pain points into reliable, documented, and observable automation that scales with the business. As we continue to evolve and grow, we are looking for someone to grow with us.

It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work as a Hybrid employee, with three (3) or more days each week required on-site at one of the listed office locations.

Candidates should be located within a commutable distance to an office. Internal candidates currently aligned to an Orion office location may be given preference; however, internal candidates with varying work arrangements may be considered based on experience and business needs. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.

In this role, you'll get to:
  • Identify manual, repetitive, or error-prone operational processes and design automated solutions that reduce risk and free up team capacity.

  • Build and maintain integrations between internal systems, vendor platforms, and proprietary APIs.

  • Write Python scripts to extract, transform, and load data between systems and call REST APIs that low-code tools cannot reach natively.

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines that move and reconcile data across multiple systems of record.

  • Write SQL against MySQL, SQL Server, and Redshift to investigate issues, build operational reports, and validate automated outputs.

  • Document workflows, integrations, and runbooks so that automations are supportable by the broader team.

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Data teams to gather requirements, prioritize work, and roll out improvements safely.

  • Monitor automations in production, triage failures, and continuously improve reliability and observability.

We're looking for talent who:
  • Has a minimum of a GED or high school diploma as required

  • Has a minimum of three (3) years of experience as required

  • Has a solid working understanding of REST APIs - including HTTP verbs, JSON payloads, and authentication patterns such as JWT bearer tokens

  • Is proficient in Python (strongly preferred) or another general-purpose scripting language for automation, data work, and API integration

  • Possesses working SQL / T-SQL skills with hands-on experience writing queries, joins, and aggregations against relational systems

  • Has experience designing and operating data flows or pipelines that move data between systems on a scheduled or event-driven basis

  • Is comfortable with version control (Git), basic code review etiquette, and writing readable, maintainable scripts

  • Has experience with Salesforce as an end user, administrator, or - ideally - as a consumer of the Salesforce REST API as preferred

  • Has familiarity with workflow orchestration tools, scheduling frameworks, or ETL platforms such as Alteryx as preferred

  • Is willing to travel up to 5% annually as required

  • Owns requirements-gathering and communicates effectively with Operations stakeholders at all levels

  • Owns and manages relationships with stakeholders directly and works effectively with people at all levels in an organization

  • Has a comfortable understanding of the fintech and institutional wealth management industries
