The Opportunity

The Manager, IT Business Relationship Management (BRM) is a strategic partner to senior leadership who champions the overall priorities of an assigned business unit through shared ownership and delivery of strategic technology initiatives. This role is a trusted advisor with responsibility for the IT portfolio supporting assigned customers within Abbott. The BRM is the 'single point of contact' for the customer from long range planning to ad-hoc requests/inquiries. This role influences and shapes the portfolio to align and enhance the organizational strategy via an excellent understanding of the business strategies and processes, awareness of the evolution of technologies, and understanding of relevant regulations impacting the partnered areas.

The role requires a deep understanding of partners' strategies, industry trends, technological advancements, and the regulatory landscape to effectively align resources, ensure execution of plans, and report progress. The BRM supports cross-functional teams, identifies technology-driven opportunities, and fosters collaboration to achieve superior business outcomes. This role also provides insight to the partnered teams on how to best develop and leverage IT capabilities, proactively identifies areas of opportunity to utilize technology for new enablement opportunities, process improvement and cost efficiencies.

For this role, the "how" is just as important as the "what." This BRM is skilled at bringing cross-functional teams together to drive meaningful results. What You'll Work On

  • Manage portfolio as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for assigned ELT members. Responsible for the portfolio view of requests, in-progress and to-be-staffed initiatives. This includes portfolios with sub-programs and projects.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between IT and business stakeholders. Prepare regular reports and presentations on IT initiatives, project status, and performance metrics.
  • Provide leadership for 1-3 Demand Managers who help to obtain and curate demand across the Executive Leadership Team, coordinating across all IT towers to define the optimal technology solution for that request which aligns to the overall portfolio.
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with assigned leadership team members and key stakeholders. Understand their unique requirements, challenges, and goals to effectively represent their needs within the IT department.
  • Act as a liaison across IT departments and core teams to align business partner needs and priorities with the capacity and priorities of the IT organization.
  • Work closely with business units to elicit, shape, document, and prioritize business strategy requirements. Facilitate the intake, prioritization, and transfer of the business strategy requirements to the appropriate IT teams who will translate them into clear and actionable business and technical specifications that can be used by the IT team for solution development.
  • Advance the BRM capability and role at Abott. This encompasses sharing ownership with the full BRM community of practice for continual improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate IT-related risks that may impact business operations. Stay up to date on industry trends, regulations, and security standards to ensure compliance and data protection.
  • Be proactive and forward-thinking regarding changes in the external environment and organizational needs to ensure that the business can adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing landscape.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless communication and alignment on client needs.
  • Effectively manage, support, and guide your team, including, but not limited to delegating tasks and responsibilities, assess employee performance, and provide helpful feedback and training opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in technology, Project/Product Management, or equivalent work experience; or Associate's Degree and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must be able to demonstrate extensive experience with increasing responsibilities in IT and business/industry.
  • Experience in setting IT strategy and business IT alignment; championing organizational evolution, e.g., leading initiatives, products, services, or interactions.
  • Broad IT expertise in various disciplines like system development, IT service management, vendor management and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success understanding stakeholder strategies, aligning focus on the problem(s) to address, aligning priorities for delivery, leading cross-functional teams to successful delivery, ensuring solution adoption, and driving value.
  • Demonstrated success forming and sustaining collaborative, trusted-advisor relationships with stakeholders and IT colleagues.
  • Demonstrated success developing teams and talent where leading without direct authority was a critical success factor.
  • Demonstrated successful project leadership experience including enterprise-wide initiatives and including agile delivery.
  • Strong organizational skills, including program/project governance.
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in IT and business/industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in setting IT strategy and business IT alignment; championing organizational evolution, e.g., leading initiatives, products, services, or interactions.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or above certification.
  • Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP).
  • Proven experience in a Business Relationship Manager or similar customer-facing role.

The base pay for this position is

$129,300.00 - $258,700.00
