Job description

Sr Project Manager participates in the planning, preparation, and execution of environmental projects. They are responsible for overall on-site project performance from inception to close. Sr PM’s are leaders who will work alongside their Team Members. Sr PM’s are the main point of contact for customers, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and Team Members.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates moderate to complex projects with minimal supervision, including:
    • Hazardous and non-hazardous waste site remediation projects and other projects pertaining to waste operations, including evacuation, drum management and disposal.
    • Lab pack services, segregating and classifying hazardous and non-hazardous materials per Federal DEP & EPA guidelines and State requirements.
    • Emergency response site evaluation activities including chemical and water spills, biological contamination, tank cleaning, equipment decontamination, etc.
  • Ensures safety is a top priority and ensures safety rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and site-specific safety plans and procedures are always strictly followed under all circumstances.
  • Understands and provides guidance on all levels of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  •  Utilizes company values in providing balanced leadership to guide, mentor, and support Team Members on projects.
  • “See or hear something, say something”; When you see or hear something that is not in harmony with company values, expected to lead the team to behavior in line with company culture.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses within prescribed budget, timeline and according to all required regulations.
  • Ensures project documentation is complete, up-to-date and entered into company financial and operating systems within expected timeframes in support of invoicing activities.
  • Prepares project reports for leaders, clients, or others and responsible for timely, accurate submission of all project activity, incidents, logbooks, and other project-related data from the field and ensures timely submission of project data.
  • Identifies, tracks, and works with others to resolve project issues and mitigate project risks.
  • Leads project meetings and presentations.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance project delivery.
  • Attends site walks to gather information required to prepare and submit quotes and to prepare for field activities.
  • Accountable for delivery and maintenance of high standards of customer service through both customer interface and business operation.
  • Completes waste profiles and regulatory documentation including manifests, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR’s) and container labels.
  • Responds to calls as needed to satisfy the emergency response nature of this business.
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects electronically through company systems including WhipAround™ and communicate issues with Dispatch and Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions · Timely and dependable attendance required.

  • Flexible to work outside normal business hours as needed.
  • Prepared to work flexible or extended hours in inclement weather conditions, including heat, cold, & humidity.
  • Willing to enter confined spaces, work from heights & occasionally perform tasks from boats.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently, under minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years relative field experience in Environmental Field or Industrial Services
  • 8 + years of Supervisory experience
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Pass a Pre-Employment DOT Physical, Drug Screen and Alcohol testing 
  • Pass a Pre-Employment Background Screening 
  • Pass the Company's Auto Insurance Qualifiers 
  • Pass the OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training  
  • Ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Must be 21 years of age or older  
  • Able to read, write, and understand the English language, and able to follow verbal and written instructions 
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred 
  • Ability to work a rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
