The Surgical Institute of Reading has an immediate need for a full time Business Office Support to join the team!

Business Office Support at Surgical Institute of Reading 
Provides comprehensive cross-functional administrative support across Business Office functions, including registration, medical records, chart preparation, scanning, collections, and pre-admission testing (PAT) support activities. This role ensures continuity of operations by flexing between departments and facilities based on organizational need.
This role supports both the Surgical Institute of Reading and affiliated Hospital Outpatient Department as directed by Business Office Leadership.
This person will float between the other locations and responsibilities as needed. 
 
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Patient Access / Registration Support
  • Registers patients in accordance with established policies, verifying demographics, insurance, and procedure information
  • Collects co-payments and confirms financial responsibility
  • Greets visitors, manages front desk flow, and maintains waiting areas
  • Answers and routes telephone calls professionally and timely
  • Communicates patient status updates appropriately to families and staff within defined guidelines
 
Medical Records & Chart Management
  • Maintains, organizes, and audits medical records for accuracy and completion
  • Prepares pre-operative charts and ensures required documentation is complete in advance of procedures
  • Pulls, files, and distributes charts for physicians and clinical staff
  • Sends delinquency notices and monitors chart completion
  • Coordinates acquisition and filing of diagnostic and operative reports
 
Scanning & Document Management
  • Scans post-operative and other documentation into the EHR accurately and timely
  • Verifies patient identifiers and document completeness prior to scanning
  • Indexes and files scanned documents appropriately
  • Identifies and escalates discrepancies in documentation
 
Patient Financial Services Support
  • Communicates with patients regarding balances and payment arrangements
  • Conducts insurance eligibility verification and routine claim follow-up inquiries
  • Maintains accurate documentation of patient financial interactions
 
Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Administrative Support
  • Provides administrative support to PAT and Pre-Call workflows, including coordination of patient information and documentation
  • Facilitates communication between departments to ensure continuity of care processes
  • Identifies missing or incomplete information and escalates to appropriate clinical staff
  • Supports scheduling coordination and documentation readiness as directed
 
General Float Responsibilities
  • Cross-trained to support multiple business office and administrative support functions as needed
  • Provides coverage for staffing gaps, PTO, and workload fluctuations
  • Assists with general clerical duties, front office support, and interdepartmental coordination
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations 
  • Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to assist across departments
 
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. The hours will change in late summer or fall. 
 
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous healthcare experience required
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing workflows
  • Demonstrates cooperative work attitude toward and with co-workers, management, patients, visitors, and physicians
  • Must be flexible with hours, adaptable and able to work independently and with a team.
