Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join UCLA Health and help transform data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making and improve healthcare outcomes across one of the nation's leading academic health systems.
As a Business Intelligence Analyst III/IV, you will provide advanced analytics, database management, and business intelligence support to UCLA Health. In this highly visible role, you will develop and maintain data solutions, dashboards, and reporting systems that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives across the organization.
Working closely with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders, you will leverage data to identify trends, measure performance, and deliver meaningful insights that support informed decision-making. You will also lead and support data-driven projects, utilizing Lean and PDCA methodologies to identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges, and improve organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain databases, data models, and reporting solutions that support business and regulatory requirements.
  • Build and manage interactive dashboards, visualizations, and reports using Tableau and other business intelligence tools.
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable insights.
  • Partner with leaders and cross-functional teams to support strategic and operational performance improvement initiatives.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead data-driven projects and support continuous improvement efforts using Lean and PDCA methodologies.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Promote innovative and efficient use of technology to enhance workflows and business processes.

Salary Ranges
BIA III: $86,400.00 - $184,800.00 Annually
BIA IV: $95,400.00 - $208,300.00 Annually
Placement into a BIA III or BIA IV is dependent on years of relevant experience and qualifications. Individuals meeting the criteria listed in the required section qualify for BIA III. Individuals with significant more experience and/or meeting all the preferred criteria may be placed in a BIA IV role.

REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Business or a related field.
• Advance skills in Python, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, R, Excel, SPSS, and PowerPoint
• 2+ years of experience in Clinical Data Analytics, Statistics, and Quality Measures
• 3+ years of experience in advanced analytical and quantitative skills
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Project management skills
• Excellent understanding of the industry-specific issues, regulatory requirements, and current healthcare industry
• Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced and creative environment
• Ability to think "outside-the-box" and be creative to accomplish departmental goals
• Ability to prioritize work and remain detail oriented
• Ability to lead System wide complex projects
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
PREFERRED:
MBA or MS in quantitative analytical fields
4+ year experience in Python, SQL, Tableau, Power BI
3+ year experience in healthcare industry
1+ year experience in data science (AI/ML)
2+ year experience in project management
