The Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a Power BI Developer III to help shape the future of enterprise business intelligence across the organization. This senior-level role will provide technical leadership for Power BI development, data modeling, reporting architecture, and Microsoft Fabric adoption while supporting the continued growth and maturity of DHE's data and analytics capabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced business intelligence professional who enjoys solving complex data challenges, establishing development standards, and mentoring others. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in Power BI, advanced data modeling, Microsoft Fabric, and source control best practices while helping drive innovation and consistency across DHE's reporting environment.

Overview:

 

The Power BI Developer III serves as a senior member of the AppDev Data Team and is responsible for leading enterprise business intelligence initiatives with minimal supervision. This position focuses on designing scalable reporting solutions, establishing governance and development standards, and driving the transition of DHE's Power BI environment into Microsoft Fabric.

The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for data modeling, semantic layer architecture, advanced reporting development, and Power BI administration. This role will partner closely with Data Engineering, technical leadership, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality analytics solutions while mentoring junior BI developers and promoting best practices across the organization.

A Day in the Life:

  • Lead the design and governance of enterprise Power BI solutions across multiple business functions
  • Own data modeling and semantic layer architecture supporting DHE's production Power BI applications and reports
  • Drive the adoption and implementation of Microsoft Fabric within the business intelligence environment
  • Evaluate and implement dataflow-to-Fabric architecture strategies and best practices
  • Develop advanced DAX and Power Query (M) solutions to support complex reporting and analytics requirements
  • Establish and maintain source control and application lifecycle management (ALM) practices for Power BI development
  • Partner with Data Engineering teams on data architecture decisions that impact reporting and analytics
  • Manage row-level security, workspace governance, and user access strategies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex reporting, model, and performance issues
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for business intelligence-related technical challenges
  • Mentor and support Power BI Developer I and II team members
  • Promote development standards, governance practices, and continuous improvement initiatives across the BI environment
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for enhanced reporting and analytics capabilities

    Qualifications & Skills:

     

  • 5+ years of Power BI or business intelligence development experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Advanced expertise in data modeling, including star schemas and semantic layer design
  • Advanced proficiency with DAX and Power Query (M) development
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Fabric and modern business intelligence architecture
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale Power BI environments
  • Hands-on experience with Git and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices in a BI development environment
  • Microsoft Certified: Associate certification required
  • Experience implementing reporting governance, security, and workspace management standards
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience mentoring team members and providing technical leadership
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams
