Insurance Insider is the leading provider of insights and analysis for the world's top insurers, distributors, service providers and investors.
Since 1996, we've been helping clients uncover new business opportunities and protect against risks through our exclusive news, deep analysis and actionable insights on the insurance market. Our coverage extends across the London market, global (re)insurance market, insurance-linked securities market and US property and casualty market.
Primary responsibilities:
  1. Oversee and drive all content from your designated section, including that of your team members. This includes:
    • Monitoring key themes and setting the agenda for content for your section
    • Aligning the content for your section with the company's commercial plan and other business priorities
    • Editing value-add content (scoops, long form, commentary, interviews etc) from your section team and providing feedback where necessary
    • Taking responsibility for quality and quantity of output from your section team

  1. Contribute yourself to the value-add content produced by your section, maintaining and building your own network of contacts and leading by example in terms of quantity and quality of value-add content production.

  1. Line manage one, or a team, of journalists in your section, ensuring they are both contributing to the wider product/team goals, and are happy and fulfilled professionally
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for members of your team around both short term and long-term goals
  • Facilitate career development for your team by arranging training/coaching sessions

  1. Be a key player and senior member in the wider Insurance Insider US editorial team, by:
  • Assisting the US managing editor in terms of editing/bandwidth, and deputize in their absence when needed
  • Assisting on wire editing and earnings coverage when needed
  • Providing advice/coaching to more junior members of the team, including those outside of your section, when needed/appropriate

  1. Help moderate panels/roundtables at our own Insurance Insider conferences/events, and represent the brand generally at events
  • Determine events priorities for your team and direct events assignments/coverage/meeting schedules
  • Assist the events team in developing content for conferences and sourcing speakers

  1. Assisting the commercial team in sales discussions where appropriate
  • For example, accompanying sales meetings to enrich the discussion with your industry knowledge/helping understand how clients use the product etc.
