Business Development Manager – Special Projects Group

Seattle, WA

An established and employee-owned General Contractor is looking to hire a strategic and relationship-driven Business Development Manager to support continued growth across the Greater Seattle market.

This role will focus on developing business contacts and project opportunities, building relationships with clients and industry partners, and managing a structured lead-generation strategy.

The ideal candidate will bring strong regional market knowledge, established industry connections, and the ability to align business development efforts with the company's workload, target markets, and long-term goals.

Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a regional lead-generation strategy aligned with business goals, workload, and target markets.
  • Identify short and long-term project opportunities through market research, client outreach, and active industry involvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, consultants, and other industry partners.
  • Create strategic account and market-sector plans for priority clients and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate lead, client interaction, and pursuit information to support forecasting and resource planning.
  • Collaborate with leadership, preconstruction, operations, and marketing teams on business strategies, proposals, presentations, interviews, and pursuit materials.
  • Review and interpret RFPs, RFQs, owner requirements, and project materials to support responsive and differentiated pursuits.
  • Lead go/no-go discussions and post-pursuit reviews while tracking win/loss results, lessons learned, and other key performance indicators.
  • Represent the company at industry associations, conferences, community events, and networking opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client needs to inform strategic decisions and future growth plans.

Business Development Manager Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years of experience in business development, client development, preconstruction, project management, or related commercial construction role.
  • Strong relationships and credibility within the Greater Seattle and Puget Sound AEC community.
  • Demonstrated success developing project opportunities, growing client relationships, and contributing to successful pursuits.
  • Experience supporting proposals, presentations, interviews, and other marketing or pursuit efforts.
  • Knowledge of regional public and private construction markets; experience with complex commercial TI work is required.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
