Summary
The Business Development Manager - Market Banking Center drives overall production for an assigned location by generating new business through outside sales, promoting bank products, and ensuring ethical, high-quality procedures. The role focuses on building a strong client base, creating an engaging environment for both customers and associates, and growing the banking center. Strong performance in sales, account growth, deposits, and profitability defines success in the role. These results also position the Business Development Manager for meaningful career advancement.
Responsibilities
  • Produces, measures, and manages sales performance while setting strategies aligned with daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual goals. Generates the majority of the banking center's new business by sourcing and developing self-generated leads.
  • Spends up to 80% of time on outside sales, promoting bank products to targeted consumers, businesses, and community organizations while generating new business, taking loan applications, closing loans, and cross-selling to existing clients, depending on banking center needs.
  • Ensures a fast, easy, and personal client experience by modeling the right behaviors. Training and hiring teams to deliver the best client experience.
  • Accountable for procedures that protect profitability and security.
  • Ensures full compliance with all bank policies and state and federal regulations while fostering an ethical, integrity-driven culture.
  • Supervises a team of bankers, overseeing hiring, coaching, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions when necessary. Provides continuous feedback and development to support strong performance and career growth.
  • Protect all client and bank information confidentially and follow all company policies.
  • Required to complete monthly training in a timely manner to ensure knowledge of bank regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Other specified duties as assigned.

Skills
  • Working knowledge of retail banking products.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce platform preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite of products, including Copilot.

  • Ability to be NMLS licensed and registered, required.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of outside business development or sales management experience required, preferred in the financial services industry.
  • 2+ years banking experience required.
  • Experience in consultative customer service or sales role, with a strong commitment to delivering a personalized and engaging customer experience.
  • High emotional intelligence with proven ability to motivate and coach others.
  • Travel within the local region is required.

Physical Requirements
The work environment is typical of a standard office or retail banking setting. This involves frequent, sustained periods of sitting but also frequent sustained periods of standing. The position will involve moving about the workspace to reach entrances/exits, restrooms, conference rooms, or other areas within the work environment. The position requires the ability to transport oneself from one local work site to another local work site via automobile or other public transportation on a frequent basis. Exposure to the elements is possible while outdoors. Reaching may be required involving the ability to move arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone, will be used requiring the ability to manipulate a keyboard, mouse, and/or keypad. The ability to decipher a computer screen or written documents is necessary. The ability to express or exchange ideas; impart information to clients, coworkers, or the public; or to convey detailed or important instructions; is required. The ability to receive and understand detailed information shared through oral or written communication is required. Position requires occasional lifting and/or the exerting of up to 25 pounds of force.
Compensation & Benefits
The Business Development Manager - Market position pays a minimum of $70,000. This position is eligible for additional incentive compensation monthly, based on achievement of established incentive goals.
