Job description

Senior Business Development Manager - Industrial Construction Staffing | Tarpon Specialty Services | Texas (Remote Considered)

Expand our MSA portfolio with major EPC contractors, industrial owners, and construction companies nationwide. If you have established relationships inside Bechtel or comparable Tier-1 accounts - and a track record of moving opportunities from introduction to executed contract - we want to talk.

Position Overview

Tarpon Specialty Services is seeking an accomplished business development professional to grow our Master Service Agreements and workforce contracts with major EPC contractors, industrial owners, manufacturers, shipyards, data-center contractors, and construction companies across the United States.

The highest-priority objective for this position is developing a credible path to vendor approval, an MSA, and active project opportunities with Bechtel. Candidates with current or recent professional relationships within Bechtel - particularly in procurement, supply chain, subcontracting, construction management, project leadership, or workforce planning - are strongly preferred.

Bechtel is a prospective customer. This posting does not imply an existing contract or affiliation between Tarpon and Bechtel.

About Tarpon Specialty Services

Tarpon Specialty Services provides qualified W-2 craft professionals for major industrial and construction projects. Our workforce capabilities include pipefitters and pipe welders, structural fitters and welders, electricians, millwrights, scaffold builders, crane operators and riggers, painters and sandblasters, and technicians, inspectors, and other specialized personnel.

This is not an entry-level sales position or primarily a recruiting role. We are looking for someone who understands how major EPC contractors select and approve workforce suppliers - and who has personally moved opportunities from initial introduction through vendor qualification, MSA execution, and profitable job orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a strategic account plan for securing business with Bechtel and other major EPC and industrial customers

  • Identify and build relationships with decision-makers in procurement, supply chain, subcontract administration, project management, construction, and workforce planning

  • Secure qualified meetings and identify active and upcoming projects where Tarpon can provide supplemental skilled labor

  • Guide opportunities through prequalification, vendor registration, compliance review, proposal development, rate negotiations, contracting, and project startup

  • Convert executed MSAs into recurring, profitable workforce assignments

  • Coordinate closely with Tarpon's management, recruiting, operations, safety, insurance, and payroll teams

  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, contact map, activity report and revenue forecast

  • Represent Tarpon professionally at corporate offices, project sites, conferences, and industry events

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of successful business development, account management, or executive relationship experience in industrial construction, EPC contracting, skilled-trades staffing, workforce solutions, or a closely related field

  • Demonstrated experience personally helping secure or expand MSAs with major industrial contractors or project owners

  • Strong understanding of vendor prequalification, procurement, contract negotiations, workforce pricing, and industrial project execution

  • Measurable track record of opening major accounts, generating revenue, and building profitable customer relationships

  • Strong professional communication, negotiation, organization, and follow-through

  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally

Strongly Preferred
  • Current or recent working relationships within Bechtel

  • Previous employment with Bechtel or direct experience selling workforce or subcontracting services to Bechtel projects

  • Relationships with other major EPC contractors, LNG facilities, refineries, data-center constructors, shipyards, fabrication facilities, and industrial owners

  • Experience selling supplemental craft labor involving welders, pipefitters, electricians, and related skilled trades

  • Experience converting an executed MSA into active projects, recurring job orders, and collected revenue

Candidates whose experience is limited to recruiting, retail sales, or general B2B sales without industrial or EPC contracting experience are unlikely to be a fit for this position.

Compensation
  • Base salary of $100,000-$150,000 annually, depending on verified experience, industry relationships, and past performance

  • Uncapped incentive compensation tied to collected gross profit from personally originated business

  • Additional milestone incentives available when a new MSA produces active, paid work

  • Approved business-travel expenses reimbursed

Tarpon Specialty Services is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable federal, state, or local law.
