Position Overview
Roux is seeking a responsible, self-sufficient, energetic Business Development Manager to identify, develop, and manage a clientele from our office in Houston, TX by promoting environmental consulting services through prospecting, building client relationships, and excellent customer service. Necessary communication with current and potential clients entails describing the services of the firm, the attributes of our services, the cost/benefit to the client, and the advantages over competing solutions.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Science, or Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in environmental or engineering business-to-business sales
  • Strong interpersonal skills-outgoing, ability to network
  • Self-starter, organized, strong work ethic
  • Basic computer skills proficiency
  • Road travel and air travel as needed, some overnights
  • Use of personal vehicle and valid driver's license is required to travel to sales calls and business development functions.

Essential Duties
  • Initiate contact and set up 7-10 sales calls per week to gain opportunities for Roux's Senior-level and Principal-level technical staff to sell the firm's services
  • Attend sales calls and manage the process to close sales opportunities in a long sales cycle with both current and prospective clients within Roux market sectors (Roux Markets)
  • Attend networking meetings and functions as needed
  • Analyze customer needs and design and implement sales, customer service, and account management processes to acquire and retain accounts
  • Collaboration with marketing and technical team to develop client alerts, webinars & panel discussions
  • Ability to cross-sell on sales calls (i.e., identify additional opportunities within Roux's scope of services)
  • Identify and build prospecting lists via B2B intelligence tools to enhance opportunities for technical staff
  • Cultivate channel partners for referral opportunities

Physical Demands/Work Environment Conditions
This position occasionally works in the field, and predominantly works in an office environment. In the field, candidate will be working independently or more commonly will be leading a larger team at exterior project sites (i.e., well pads, monitoring wells, treatment systems, construction projects) to perform sample collection, recording of operational/meter parameters, and oversight of subcontractors (e.g., drillers, heavy equipment operators, truckers). These field activities require the ability to drive to different project sites and physically move around outdoors in various terrains, and occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Office work is primarily stationary/sedentary using a computer and keyboard/mouse requiring repetitive hand movements.
