BASIC JOB SUMMARY:
The main purpose of this position is to serve and support TEC's business customers through the selling of additional products and services, facilitating contract renewals and identifying new business opportunities within the designated market area. This role may also involve travel outside of the market area to pursue expanded sales. This job requires familiarity with telecommunications industry, business class internet service, and managed IT (Information Technology) products. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Requires excellent written and verbal skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The essential job functions and duties described below may not be the only requirements of the position. It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties required by the company.
  • Responsible for new sales and ongoing business development within the TEC business customer base
  • Responsible for selling into the market (fringe or grant areas) to attract new TEC clients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Responsible for customer and revenue retention for assigned accounts
  • Responsible for exercising communication and negotiation skills to renew service agreements, retain business, identify customer needs, and promote company products and services
  • Responsible for practicing and exhibiting concise and qualified closing skills to secure new or renewed business opportunities
  • Responsible for obtaining and maintaining customer contact information within the company's operating system
  • Accurately report sales forecasting, by updating and maintaining the CRM with customer notes, calls, meetings, and other related sales functions
  • Broaden customer awareness and strengthen relationships to encourage the adoption of all appropriate solutions offered by TEC
  • Be self-sufficient in the preparation and presentation of customer quotes and contracts for existing customer renewals
  • Work diligently with the Sales, Customer Relations, and other departments to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Attend functions such as chamber of commerce, Rotary Club, or industry events as a TEC representative
  • Demonstrate a willingness and enthusiasm to learn and apply new sales techniques
  • Work well with customers, vendors, the sales team, and other departments within TEC
  • Provide ongoing and productive feedback to management regarding needs/campaigns that might increase sales and improve the customer experience
  • Travel up to 60% should be expected
  • May include additional duties as assigned

Requirements
Education/Experience - A minimum of two (2) years managing a client base in telecommunications or a proven track record of selling fiber or VoIP-related products in a new market is required. Must have demonstrated a successful track record of both new sales and contract renewal/upsell within a given territory, vertical, or other client base.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - A high school diploma is required, but an Associate's degree is preferred. One or more years of computer experience required. Experience in Microsoft Office applications is beneficial. Good organization and communication skills, including maintaining and meeting various deadlines is essential.
