The Construction and Development Controller is responsible for all aspects of accounting for the Construction and Development businesses, including draw processes and financial reporting. They will oversee the day-to-day operations of the business financial records. The Controller is also responsible for hiring, training, and managing direct reports and should have experience in management, goal setting, and performance reviews.
  • Acts as the primary Business Partner for the Construction and Development teams. Supports business initiatives and give guidance on accounting matters.
  • Accountable for all Construction and Development reporting packages, including monthly and annual financial packages.
  • Leads accounting efforts on all Construction and Development closings.
  • Responsible for all Construction and Owner draws, including process improvements to create the most seamless and simplistic system for processing draws and getting timely payment to subs.
  • Works collaboratively with all departments to create accurate, timely dashboards with integrated department and accounting system data.
  • Drives the business to generate and best use cash.
  • Partners with Finance teams to forecast EBITDA and cash needs.
  • Creates and maintains internal compliance policies.
  • Coaches, mentors and manages team members.
  • Acts as delegate for VP of Finance and Accounting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 5-10 years of public or private accounting experience of progressive responsibilities
  • Experience building and managing teams
  • CPA preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn accounting software
  • Strong communication and teaming skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • A proven work history of managing multiple deadlines, offering exemplary customer service and teamwork characteristics with customers, project personnel and coworkers
