Job description

The Doctors Company is currently seeking an AVP Business Development to join our team. This is a hybrid opportunity based at any TDCG or PRA office.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts or sciences, with a focus on business administration, finance, marketing or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Property & casualty producer license
  • CPCU, RPLU, or similar insurance designation preferred
  • Eight to ten (8-10) years of insurance sales and agency relations and management experience required.

Responsibilities:

Agency Sales Performance & Relationship Management

  • Identifies target prospects and manages pipeline based on TDC Underwriting appetite and engages with appropriate National Brokers for pursuit.
  • Manages and fosters National Broker relationships capable of supporting the company’s growth and retention strategies.
  • Manages and monitors National Broker activities and serves as liaison with Agency Support for agency appointments, contract administration and terminations.
  • Provide product, service, and company updates to brokers as necessary.
  • Leverages agency incentive programs, Key Agency co-op program, agency education, and agency seminars to drive Agency Sales Performance and improve Agency Relationships.
  • Maximizes participation at industry events to achieve stated performance expectations.
  • Meets or exceeds expectations for service delivery.

Distribution Channel Management

  • Interprets agency production and profitability data that is timely and accurate and designed to assist in the strategic and operational management of agency generated revenue.
  • Enters agency encounters into reporting tool to capture competitor information, market intelligence, and agency issues.
  • Addresses Agent and Broker concerns by engaging the appropriate individuals for resolution and/or escalating as the situation dictates.

Finance Management

  • Provides input to the Business Development budget, including promotion of Key Agency Co-op program to optimize the distribution strategy in assigned states.
  • Provides input on incentive programs to ensure value derived is equal to or greater than resources expended.
  • Monitors sales and profitability on a monthly basis.
  • Works with Business Development leaders to ensure strategy and revenue targets are met.

Strategic Planning

  • Assists in the development of the Business Development strategic plan.
  • Implements initiatives in the area of agency distribution to drive growth and retention.
  • Supports analysis of current market conditions and business models to predict future market shifts and coordinate resources.

Supports evaluation of new states, or existing states for market growth and expansion.

  • Maintain full compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and established standards (e.g. accurately recording time worked, Submitting PTO, mandatory corporate training)
  • Keep technical knowledge and skills current to effectively support department priorities.
  • Complete all performance and development activities, including the performance review process, in a timely manner.
  • Fulfill all required training and development obligations to maintain essential skills and credentials.
  • Complete all mandatory compliance courses on time, meeting corporate training standards.
  • Pursue additional learning opportunities that strengthen professional capabilities and contribute to team and organizational performance, with prior manager approval.

Learning, Development & Compliance

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance business efficiency and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
  • Proactively provide regular updates to leadership on project status, deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Maintain flexibility and agility to take on additional responsibilities as organizational needs evolve.

Salary Range: $157,323 - $206,487. Compensation varies based on skills, knowledge, and education. We consider factors such as specialized skills, depth of knowledge in the field, and educational background to ensure fair and competitive pay.
