The software platform is used by biopharmaceutical and industrial companies, academic institutions, and government laboratories around the world. Our multidisciplinary drug discovery team also leverages the software platform to advance collaborative programs and its own pipeline of novel therapeutics to address unmet medical needs.
As a member of our Business Development team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the future of value creation from therapeutics at Schrödinger. You'll expand our portfolio through strategic partnerships and licensing and research collaboration opportunities. This role involves participation in the full deal lifecycle, from initial opportunity ideation, scouting, and rigorous due diligence management to term sheet negotiation and final execution.
Who will love this job:
  • An experienced dealmaker with a proven track record of licensing deals or research collaborations
  • A confident sell-side biotech business developer
  • A skilled data synthesizer who can use information about scientific research and disclosures, biopharma R&D investments, venture portfolios, commercial sources, and the industry pipelines of MOAs and assets to court diverse prospective partners

What you'll do:
  • Proactively identify and evaluate potential licensing partners, synergistic platform collaboration opportunities, and strategic partnerships that align with the company's growth strategy
  • Lead and/or support cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Legal, Finance) in the conduct of rigorous evaluations of external opportunities
  • Support partnership workflow and negotiation of term sheets and definitive agreements (e.g., CDAs, MTAs, Licensing Agreements, Research Collaboration Agreements)
  • Serve as a point of contact for external biopharma and biotech business development representatives; attend and represent the company at industry conferences and networking events, such as JPM and BIO

What you should have:
  • A deal sheet summarizing deal history - roles and dates required (please include this with your resume in your application)
  • Bachelor's degree in life science; MBA, JD, or PhD preferred
  • At least four years of experience in business development, corporate strategy, or investment banking within the biopharma sector

Pay and perks:
Schrödinger understands it's people that make a company great. Because of this, we're prepared to offer a competitive salary, equity-based compensation, and a wide range of benefits that include healthcare (with dental and vision), a 401k, pre-tax commuter benefits, a flexible work schedule, and a parental leave program. We have regular catered meals in the office, a company culture that is relaxed but engaged, and over a month of paid vacation time. Our Office Management team also plans a myriad of fun company-wide events. New York is home to our largest office, but we have teams all over the world.
