Job Description / Qualifications
Title: Buyer/Pass-through Business Controller
Manager: Manager of Purchasing
FLSA: Exempt
JOB PURPOSE:
Supports purchasing and program management with defining customer production, process and quality requirements
for pass through parts. Position Involves negotiations with the suppliers and resolution of issues that impede business
development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Production Control for Pass through Parts Production Control of Tier-2 Supplier manufacturing
sub-components that will be shipped directly to the OEM customer's assembly plant.
After Start of Production (SOP), this function will coordinate delivery of the products (customer coordination with
suppliers needs to be process controlled).
Update records related to purchasing costs, timely deliverables, quality and quantity in relation to inventory
requirements; assists to identify, determine and resolve the root cause of non-confirming items with customers
and suppliers.
Assists in the development and implementation of material sourcing strategies and price negotiations with
suppliers.
Builds and maintains supplier relations; assists in creating mutually beneficial improvement goals for growth.
Develops technical expertise in commodities purchased for program awards; stays abreast of market trends of
related product commodity suppliers/competitive business practices of assigned markets, new materials and
suppliers entering the markets.
Maintains supplier control list and documents.
Performs other related duties, as assigned including issuing RFQ's and maintaining cost controls.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum (3+) years related supply chain management or production control automotive manufacturing industry
experience.
Well-versed working knowledge of production control processes and procedures; program management.
Effective/strong negotiation skills.
Proficient in MS Office, MS Excel; basic understanding of EDI, ERP or material handling system knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal relations and written/oral business communication skills
High degree of professionalism and business ethics.
Well organized with ability to multi-task; ability to pay strict attention to detail.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
Bachelors' degree in business-related major.
Production control, supply chain management, raw materials knowledge base in the automotive industry.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work performed in an office setting; customer offices and manufacturing plants.
Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities
Customer support and business requirements to include auto and air travel.
Lifting of component parts weighing ~ 25 lbs. on occasion with associate assistance, as required.
Business travel of 20% (up to ~ 25%) based on the supplier/customer requirements.
