We are currently searching for a full/part time, experienced, energetic, and reliable Teacher Assistant to work in a small, quiet, fun, clean, and supportive early care and educational environment. This person will join our roster of experienced, motivated and effective teaching professionals. We strive in every way to create an inspiring and enriching atmosphere both for our students and our personnel. Every day, we encourage our Teachers to interact with their students on a personal level and to identify each student’s learning patterns. We put strong emphasis on physical activity, interactive learning and the use of props and other educational tools. The program services children 6 weeks through Pre-K and is open year round. Because we are open year-round, and sometimes experience the inclement New England weather, this person has to be available and reliable to work under any circumstance since the families here will still require care for their children.
As the Assistant Teacher, this person is responsible for supporting the lead teacher in creating/maintaining a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment for young children. You will also be responsible assisting the lead teacher with a curriculum based on The Rhode Island Early Learning Development Standards (RIELDS). Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster a love of learning while promoting social, emotional, and developmental growth. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children during their formative years.
Responsibilities
  • Assist lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans that promote childhood development and early education principles based on RIELDS.
  • Support children with classroom activities, ensuring they are engaged, motivated, and supported in their learning journey.
  • Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring safety and positive behavior management.
  • Provide basic caregiving duties such as diapering, feeding, and comforting children as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
  • Assist with classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and fostering respectful interactions among children.
  • Communicating with parents, and documenting daily activities on our app
  • Following/adhering to the center and state policies and procedures
Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with children in preschool, daycare, or babysitting roles is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, children, and parents.
  • Ability to manage classroom behavior with patience, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Passion for nurturing young minds and supporting their growth through caregiving and teaching activities.
  • A minimum of a High school diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Energetic and positive attitude
  • Ability to pass a background check
Join us in creating a joyful learning environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential!
