Job description

About Us: EvolutionIQ's mission is to deliver state of the art technology that helps insurance claims teams make claims handling more accurate, fair, and efficient, so that more people impacted by injury or illness can continue their lives with dignity and stability. We are currently experiencing massive growth and to accomplish our goals, we are hiring world-class talent who want to help build and scale internally, and transform the insurance space. Our team is our #1 priority, and we have been named one of Inc.'s Best Workplaces 3 years in a row and Built In's Best Places to work in 2025 and 2026!

As a Business Analyst on the Data Science & Insights team you will translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive operational change and measurable client outcomes. You will work with leaders across DS&I and Client Strategy to identify KPIs and develop robust, scalable, and trustworthy reporting to both track historical metrics and inform resulting business strategy.

You will support technical development across the Data Science & Insights portfolio, from writing SQL queries to developing reusable Python tools to creating Looker dashboards. You will help drive the evolution of scalable client analytics, from automated reporting and self-service QBRs to high-impact ROI storytelling, while acting as a trusted analytical advisor across Product, Client Services, Sales, and Data Science. The quality of your insights will directly influence product direction, client retention, and how the business evaluates and prioritizes opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report Quality: Review data artifacts to ensure that data transformations are accurate and reporting correctly communicates the metrics in question.
  • Scale Reporting Infrastructure: Build out tooling to scale and automate client reporting, while ensuring data is trustworthy. Support contribution to team's github code repositories with strong Python and SQL skills, with a willingness to learn additional tools like dbt
  • Data Storytelling: Create high-impact visualizations and business cases that demonstrate the ROI of AI integration to our B2B clients.
  • Stakeholder Synthesis: Translate complex model behaviors (e.g., propensity to close, intervention scoring) into actionable insights for claims adjusters and executive leadership through in depth analytics.
  • Requirement Architecture: Collaborate with senior DS&I team members to define "Success Events" for new AI features, ensuring that technical builds align with the Behavioral North Star of the product.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years as a Business Analyst or similar role, preferably within Disability Insurance, FinTech, or a SaaS company leveraging Machine Learning.
  • Analytical Rigor: Proficiency in Python (Pandas, script development), SQL, and data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker) to perform independent "deep dives" into claim performance data.
  • Strategic Communication: Proven ability to explain the "Why" behind an AI recommendation to non-technical users.
  • Domain Expertise: Familiarity with claims management workflows, "duration compression" concepts, and the regulatory landscape of disability insurance is preferred

Work-life, Culture & Perks:

  • Compensation: The base salary range is $165-180K, with flexibility depending on a candidate's background and experience. An annual bonus plan and company equity plan (RSUs) are also included in our compensation package.
  • Well-Being: Medical, dental, vision, short & long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D, and 401k matching. Additional family, wellness, and pet benefits.
  • Home & Family: Paid time off and sick leave, 100% paid parental leave (16 weeks for primary caregivers and 12 weeks for secondary caregivers). We offer a flexible schedule for new parents returning to work.
  • Office Life: Catered lunches, happy hours, pet-friendly spaces, and monthly technology stipend.
  • Growth & Training: $1,000/year for each employee for professional development, as well opportunities for tuition reimbursement.
  • Sponsorship: We are open to sponsoring candidates currently in the U.S. who need to transfer their active visa. Please check with our Recruiting team if your visa is applicable for transfer.
